"The way of the tired person":life rules for the perpetually exhausted. Jo Walker, Jan 27 2020, The Guardian

It does. It feels very surreal, even decades in. Let alone when it first starts happening to you. This is what's so dangerous about the article in the OP, however well it was intended. It's also a fundamental flaw in the BPS argument. From the start most of us just find it so surreal we do...

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

The issue that strikes me here is we have no way of balancing the numbers. Certain doctors will claim that a high percentage of their patients will have a certain type of abnormality, while another will insist that's rare and that many of their patients have some other, entirely different...

Guideline from Danish Health Authorities on coding Functional Disorders (also about ME)

Forgive me if this is a stupid suggestion & I've got my timeline muddled. This looks to me like the health authorities are simply ignoring or using the codes to carry on in their own merry way, despite the Danish politicians' (Health Minister?) undertaking that this should be considered a...

    Seat for cooking

I've checked with the vet supplier & they only sell to vets who have accounts with them. The cheaper amazon stool is currently £229 plus vat. It's in their sale that lasts till the end of Feb. Out of our reach. Although I might carry on investigating cheaper saddle style stools.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

Even if we do get "reliable" figures to what extent are they trustworthy? We know that the BPS cabal once happily quoted false figures as reliable evidence of the success of GET/CBT. In surgery there is the whole argument about mesh used to treat gynae issues and hernias. Surgeons were quite...

    Seat for cooking

Yes, that's a good point. My sink is beside the kettle and there's a long run of worktop, so for me I think that would be okay. I more in need a solution of something to sit on where I'm my legs aren't in the way what with cupboards & dishwashers under the counter & I'm not twisting...

Article: Strength Training for Pain & Injury Rehab Jan 2020

Quite the sweeping statement! I'm intrigued to know which other major medical ailments? Is major used here as a medical term?

    Seat for cooking

I shall investigate further, but it may take some time. I'll wait until I need some new tick & flea stuff for the dog. Don't want to be too cheeky! I'll look into the prices from that site too & see if they give weight specs. I guess the other thing with price is comfort. If I'm not pacing...

    Seat for cooking

2 days! That kind of thing is all we need! Sound horrible, especially as the kitchen floor tends to be a cold hard surface.

    Seat for cooking

Be warned I have no idea of prices but I'm rather interested myself so don't mind finding out tomorrow afternoon. None of these in the following link look exactly like the vets but his is several years old. There a couple of saddle type (without integral footrests) & I think one (amazon) is...

'Pacing for people with M.E.' Action for ME booklet - revised and updated January 2020.

Thanks for the response @Action for M.E.. It is appreciated. A suggestion - perhaps asking the opinion of patients and carers here before publication on the wording and meaning prior to publishing might be more constructive? As you know, we will tell you honestly what we think and there are a...

    Seat for cooking

I haven't heard back from the vets yet but the stool he uses is shaped like a saddle so the legs go to the side & down rather than out in front. Like sitting on a horse or a bike with the feet in the rests. I think just taking the foot off the rest and placing it on the floor will allow you to...

Guideline from Danish Health Authorities on coding Functional Disorders (also about ME)

Bolding mine - Ok, so PVFS no argument there, however whether or not there is inflammation in the brain is something that has been contested and is one of the arguments about the name, particularly the "encephalomyelitis" bit. I should imagine most physicians will be reluctant to claim that...

    Seat for cooking

This is something I've been mulling over too. My vet has a stool which is on wheels and appears to be height adjustable with a footrest. The seat is shaped a bit like a bicycle seat. It looks very comfortable. No back rest though. Might give em a ring and ask where they got it. I've...

Investigation into cognitive behavioural therapy for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, 2020, Clark

I admit, that's what I thought but she was adamant it was CBT as offered a number of years ago by her local NHS. Like most people here, I'm sure, I wouldn't judge someone from seeking the help they need. One of the problems with it who knows what might be offered when a patient goes to such an...

Investigation into cognitive behavioural therapy for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, 2020, Clark

As I've said I'm not a fan of CBT for reasons already mentioned. I don't deny the particular issues related to ME - unfortunately, I've lived them too. However a number of my family members developed an extremely debilitating, chronic and incurable disease which is well known and recognised...
