Immune drivers of physiological and pathological pain, 2024, Aakanksha Jain et al

Post-Exertional Malaise - a discussion including defining and measuring PEM

I can understand that. I don't have many symptoms so it's easier for me to identify a change in fatigue state and know when it's time not to go over my baseline. It took many years of trial and error figuring this out though

Post-Exertional Malaise - a discussion including defining and measuring PEM

I agree. Our experiences with PEM will differ. During the first several years of illness I would get a sore throat after over exerting, but that was during the PVFS phase. Symptoms change over time, and for those of us who have been ill for decades it's easily distinguishable.

Post-Exertional Malaise - a discussion including defining and measuring PEM

I was tested for many viruses via PCR/DNA/RNA but nothing ever showed up, even when I felt 'viral' or bad. The testing was done about one year after that EBV and HHV6 reactivated episode. It's difficult to test for I think unless you're very symptomatic? Dunno I hope they find something...

Post-Exertional Malaise - a discussion including defining and measuring PEM

@duncan I'm not sure what you're asking. I was explaining to Eddie that over exertion PVFS in my case feels very different from delayed M.E PEM from going over my energy limits. If I have a viral infection over exertion I would experience immediate PEM but that does not include the same...
