Pre-Illness Data reveals Differences in Multiple Metabolites and Metabolic Pathways in Those Who Do and Do Not Recover from IM, 2022, Jason et al

My point was that severity wasn't considered a criteria. Some of his pts were in wheelchairs and he did not give them an M.E dx. History, onset, remitting-relapsing episodes was the reason I was dx with M.E, even if he suspected that I would recover in 5 years.

    EBV lab test

I recovered from the initial virus that triggered M.E, don't know what I had b/c I wasn't tested for any that I'm aware of. The triggering/reactivating of viruses and allergens started becoming an issue around the 13 year mark, and now I have 'something' brewing every few months, spring...

Pre-Illness Data reveals Differences in Multiple Metabolites and Metabolic Pathways in Those Who Do and Do Not Recover from IM, 2022, Jason et al

The M.E doctor who diagnosed me co-authored the 2003 Canadian Consensus Criteria. He didn't diagnosis patients within 6 months of illnesses based on symptoms, or even severity, his diagnostic criteria was based on 25+ years of experience. The term PEM wasn't used or even talked about back...

Pre-Illness Data reveals Differences in Multiple Metabolites and Metabolic Pathways in Those Who Do and Do Not Recover from IM, 2022, Jason et al

Everybody experiences M.E differently, I didn't have PEM until 6-7 years into the illness. MS is considered an episodic disability as well as progressive. And so that means that there are periods of wellness followed by periods of disability.

Pre-Illness Data reveals Differences in Multiple Metabolites and Metabolic Pathways in Those Who Do and Do Not Recover from IM, 2022, Jason et al

I'm curious, is MS defined as serve, moderate or mild? I personally prefer relapsing-remitting because we can go from mild, moderate or severe within a week.

Metabolomic analyses reveal new stage-specific features of COVID-19, 2022, Hongling Jia et al

Abstract The current pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected >160 million individuals to date, and has caused millions of deaths worldwide, at least in part due to the unclarified pathophysiology of this disease. Identifying the underlying molecular mechanisms of COVID-19...

In less than 10 minutes, Stanford researchers isolate the rarest white blood cells

Stanford researchers quickly isolate rare, allergen-reactive white blood cells, called basophils, using microfluidics and magnets. The new device could help revolutionize allergy diagnosis from the current slow and painful process of skin tests and oral food challenges...

Comparing Operationalized Approaches for Substantial Reduction of Functioning in CFS and ME, 2022, Wiedbusch and Jason

My disability benefits claim early on (w/o cognitive impairment and PEM at the time) was based on my history of relapsing-remitting M.E, and not 'mild, moderate or severe' category.

Chronic Lyme disease, post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS)

Desperate sufferers who believe they have exhausted the therapies offered by conventional medicine sometimes look elsewhere for help. They often take their cues from the media, which trumpet each small trial result as a major breakthrough, even in the absence of rigorous scientific testing.

Chronic Lyme disease, post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS)

@duncan I'm not comparing it to bleach. My biggest issue is the overly misdiagnosing of patients who are mislead by militant social media groups. I have not walked in the shoes of chronic lyme patients, but I had a best friend who was misdiagnosed and had a PICC line inserted for 9...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2022

Québec ME/CFS patients deserve access to new long-Covid clinics, advocates say. The network of clinics will focus on long COVID and Lyme disease, but not myalgic encephalomyelitis, leaving patients with the complex illness feeling forgotten again...

Gastrointestinal neoplasia: carcinogenic interaction between bile acids and Helicobacter pylori in the stomach, 2022, Madeline Alizadeh

Abstract Bile acids modulate cell functions in health and disease, however, the mechanisms underlying their actions on neoplastic cells in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract remain largely unknown.
