    Sleeping in hot weather

I echo some of the suggestions above. If you've got medication then use that. I couldn't handle zopiclone or other alternatives such as a sedating anti histamine. I use a slow release melatonin. Having said that - it's only an aide and I still sometimes struggle. Like @Leila, I have bought...

Occupational therapy consensus recommendations for functional neurological disorder, 2020, Stone et al

I'm sure I've mentioned before but it seems relevant here so I'll raise it again. I know of one lady who was assessed according to her needs. She was given a wheelchair, grab bars, bathing aids and the like. It meant that her husband could continue to work a full time job & she could safely...

BPS attempts at psychologizing Long Covid

At least they're not going through it thinking they're the only ones. Thanks to the internet they can easily contact others struggling through the same problems. They've also got us fighting their corner. That would have certainly have made a difference to me.

Pacing - what do you do/how would you describe it?

It's a nice idea in theory but, in practice & based on my own experience, I won't carry a card saying I have CFS or ME. Unless I know the person I won't even say I have ME. It's led to aggressive borderline abusive verbal attack. In my case the most notable was actually someone who turned out...

    PEM and sweating?

Oh, yes, the night sweats! Horrible! Also recognise the sweating when no one else is - dripping with sweat... Ugh! I really thought maybe it was very early menopause - I was just over 30 when I got sick, but then the occasional mysterious not sweating when everyone else was. There was the...

    PEM and sweating?

Yep. I've got quite the repertoire too. There's the hot over temperature sweat but also, when I am sliding into a PEM pit, the feeling really cold yet sweating.

NICE Statement about graded exercise therapy in the context of COVID-19

Sometimes I think we need to spell it out. We can easily forget that what's obvious to us might not be understood by everyone who reads these threads. Not everyone is familiar with all the shenanigans.

A Proposal for Explaining Progression from Light/Moderate to Severe Chronic Fatigue, 2020, Höck

I was also advised to supplement with Vitamin D. My levels were on the border between normal & low. I honestly can't say I've noticed a difference. Maybe some symptoms would have been exacerbated or new ones might have developed if levels had dropped further. Maybe not.

NICE Statement about graded exercise therapy in the context of COVID-19

And that begs the question - if we can see that, why can't mental health professionals & researchers? Or is it that they won't?

NICE Statement about graded exercise therapy in the context of COVID-19

That is the difference between feeling better and being better and why objective measures are needed in research.

UK - NHS England online tool and clinics for long Covid.

Sure it is more than possible. However, we don't know who will be harmed & who won't because they've spent the last 35 years with their fingers in the ears. They clearly know some people will be harmed because they lay all responsibility at the patient's door. Safety should be as important as...

UK - NHS England online tool and clinics for long Covid.

There are times when I can take a little exercise without any pain. At the time. Two or three days later I can be in a world of hurt. The exercise advice given is wildly over simplistic and demonstrates that these people have no idea of just how vast the gaping chasm in their knowledge is...

    MECFS Patient Researcher Accolade Portfolio

Apologies if you already have these. I don't "facebook". Do you have @Tom Kindlon for his work on Under Reporting of Harms in PACE among other things. Also, Robert Courtney and Alem Mattees? Edit..... Act of autocorrect

BPS attempts at psychologizing Long Covid

I'm not a particularly vengeful person, I have better uses for my energy, but reading that piece it occurred to me to hope karma exists.

Pacing - what do you do/how would you describe it?

On the rare occasions I physically see people I tend to do the same. In theory I could just say I need to do ....whatever. In practice, then someone, possibly out of politeness, asks why and then I have to explain and use all the energy I have for the visit on that.

Twitter account will provide headlines & quotes from the 1955 Royal Free Hospital outbreak to the day when each headline appeared - 65 years later

What I find very strange about all this - Nurses are women and are therefore more likely to suffer from a hysteria induced illness. Yet during both world wars and lots of conflicts there have been female nurses not very far from the front line, seeing horrific injuries, lots of death despite...

Covid-19 - Psychological research and treatment

 @JemPD. I think this goes beyond cruelty caused by ignorance. This is taunting and mocking the disabled. It is considerably worse than the type of bullying behaviour that we specifically teach kids not to do, at least they don't know better until they're taught. This is a person who...
