A Future Without ME/CFS: True causes and effective treatment strategies. Seminar with Dr Dietrich Klinghardt plus guest speakers. 15th Feb 2020

It's becoming depressing. Recently there have been a few incidences of people making reference to something that could make a significant difference. Then I realize, nope done that, have the t-shirt, didn't work as originally advertised many years ago. It feels like a merry go 'round, or like...

Anyone have trouble writing by hand?

Ah. I have had this happen at a keyboard .... Well, it happens more frequently with my right arm & I am right handed so it happens with a mouse. Touchscreen keyboard's aren't so bad as I usually just use 2 fingers, though I am a lot less accurate than with a "real" keyboard. Using a real...

Anyone have trouble writing by hand?

Yes, I have problems writing by hand. I find a thicker pen much easier to use. Unfortunately, I have a habit of breaking the nibs on fountain pens :(. IM has banned me from using his in the past. Sooner or later my writing becomes fairly illegible no matter what I use!

And So, leading theory from over 20 years ago. This stuff was being peddled when I first got sick.

IAPT requests addition of DSM-5's Somatic symptom disorder (SSD) to SNOMED CT for use in Data Set v2.0 to replace "MUS - not otherwise specified"

I find it hard to follow all the details @Dx Revision Watch, but is it possible that they are trying to circumvent possible restrictions that might be imposed by ICD11? You & @Medfeb have done so much work to keep their feet on the ground with the new coding, could this be their way of trying...

Independent advisory group for the full update of the Cochrane review on exercise therapy and ME/CFS (2020), led by Hilda Bastian

I find it hard to believe that the ignoring, lack of recording or observing harms is innocent. Without evidence of harms, the powers that be can claim ignorance and it gives them a level of protection as they steamroller ahead with an agenda that has more to do with politics than health...

Understanding persistent physical symptoms: Conceptual integration of psychological expectation models and predictive processing accounts, 2020, Kube

So......when I was barely 30 and in huge amounts of pain all of the time and happily ignoring them because my doc told me everything was normal and I believed her, assuming that maybe everyone my age felt this bad all of the time, how come I got worse?

Cleaning tips and recommendations for cleaning products

I just find it incredibly difficult to find someone reliable. I've tried.a couple of times. They want to keep swapping their days.....one didn't want to come when the dog was there, even though he is kept with me and well out from under their feet the whole time they were in the house. I found...

Cleaning tips and recommendations for cleaning products

It probably won't work on the vertical walls but..... On the fairly rare occasions I have a go at a job like this I find that if the limescale remover runs off the area especially round taps and the like I soak a j-cloth or kitchen towel and place that over the area. Also rather than just...

'Pacing for people with M.E.' Action for ME booklet - revised and updated January 2020.

Based on my own experience of a sleep study (not ME specific), frankly I am not at all surprised. I arrived at the centre and told I had to be all connected up and in bed at a certain time - significantly earlier than my usual bedtime. A good hour earlier than that the lady who was to connect...

'Pacing for people with M.E.' Action for ME booklet - revised and updated January 2020.

I tried to carry on looking at the pacing section. Way to seriously overcomplicate. This rule, that rule, the other rule.... At no point is there any appreciation of the fact the the same task can take different amounts of energy at a different time of day or on different days. At no point...

'Pacing for people with M.E.' Action for ME booklet - revised and updated January 2020.

It was certainly bandied about when I first became ill. I wonder if there was a policy behind it, or if it was just seen as common sense advice that couldn't harm anyone. Like exercise. Then the BPS crew set about convincing everyone that we weren't credible witnesses to own condition and so...

    Easy ways to donate time

She doesn't live nearby anymore. It was just that the opportunity arose at the time and I suddenly saw the opportunity to help someone else without clobbering myself. I'm not really well enough anymore to sustain real life friendships. :(

    Tingling Fingertips

Yep, I get it on the hands and feet. It disappears for a while and then comes back again. Never seems to happen around the time of an appointment so I've never asked about it. Or if I have the answer wasn't memorable. As far as I can remember :arghh:

'Pacing for people with M.E.' Action for ME booklet - revised and updated January 2020.

Yeah, this is a massive document @Action for M.E. .I'll try to dip in and out but.. There's no way I'm reading all of that. I've just dipped in - page 15 - mentions avoiding sleep during the day as it might disrupt sleep at night. For a good number of ME patients this is completely wrong...

Hypermobility Syndromes Association: Fibromyalgia & Hypermobility Management Masterclass for Health Professionals

[Bolding mine] So if the symptoms are medically explained - presumably in this case we're talking pain- we don't know the cause. So how can you know that you aren't making things worse for these patients? Speaking as someone who suffered for over 3 months with a shoulder injury thanks to a...

BBC short video: Chronic fatigue syndrome: Living with an invisible illness

I prefer the credit card analogy myself where credit = energy. As long as I stay within my credit limits and pay it off in full (on a daily rather than monthly basis, mind you) I won't be making myself worse. If, however, I go over my limit and/or cannot make the payment in full (perhaps...
