    News from The Netherlands

OMG. In the Netherlands the NKCV (het Nederlands "Kenniscentrum" voor Chronische Vermoeidheid) has been ordered by the Advertisement Code Commission to change their misleading text about CBT being safe. This really made my day. Who's next? "Due to the certainty of the statement, which lacks any...

Could you please point me to where this question was mentioned and also the preventing bit? It was also mentioned on the website but this looks more interesting.

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

Explanation by Rovers why the actometer data wasn't used.... "This was not chosen because reduced physical activity is not a good marker of fatigue. There are many people with serious complaints in post-infectious syndromes that do not deviate in terms of movement, and also many healthy...

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

Chantal Rovers. One of the authors created a thread about the study. Here's her opening tweet: "Doubted whether I would share our article on cognitive behavioral therapy in long COVID here, not because of fear of criticism, but because of the expected nasty reactions on the person."

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

True, but still interesting and you wonder what that means on the long run for those who actually worsened by this CBT trial.

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

Someone mentioned that at the second measurement moment T2 the CBT group shows a deterioration compared to T1, while the control group continues to improve. Why does the CBT group deteriorate when treatment stops and the control group continues to improve?

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

My post on LinkedIn about the paper. The new Dutch CBT trial for #longCOVID. From my initial scan. All subjective outcome measures. The actometer that was used at the beginning of the trial to assess patients activity that could've provided objective evidence of improvements was not used...

The Netherlands - €28.5 million ME/CFS research program - ZonMW funding awards announced April 2023

Enough no. A chance at a better project yes. It will also mean more patients orgs might be willing to work with Groningen which will improve the project and it's faults. Right now there's only the Stichting and they are a fan of her and her work. As they've been so before with CBT/MUPS researchers.

Sums it up pretty well indeed. I wish we could get a better/more receptive project leader. She's not as bad as Crawley, but there are definitely some similarities. Or let me rephrase that and say that she's more nuanced which makes her more slippery.
