It seems that there was also a failed replication attempt included in this paper. The authors write (my bolding):
"We first used a simple approach to examining mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in frozen PBMCs from 41 out of the 98 subjects. A previous report by Tomas et al. has shown a...
Reviews like this one are more like a declaration that the authors think pain neuroscience education works, regardless of the evidence, and that their (future) work should be interpreted with this bias in mind.
"And, Dr. Fejzo hopes, it could finally put to rest the idea that the condition is psychological. "
I wonder how those who accuse ME/CFS patients of dualism would respond to that.
Thanks for tagging me @Hutan.
I agree this is a good example that would fit well in the dark history of psychosomatic medicine. The blog is currently on hold due to health and other reasons (there are still a lot of stories on our list to write about). I hope to continue it somewhere in the...
Some quotes from patients in the survey:
"All doctors said I had depression, but the psychiatrist said I had no depression and that it was somatic."
"“Before my disease, I have always been a big sportsman, so GET was attractive to me when prescribed. However, it worsened all my symptoms.”...
This seems to be the review on fatigue after post-viral illness that they included:
A mixed-methods systematic review of post-viral fatigue interventions: Are there lessons for long Covid? | PLOS ONE
It seems that the test, the 3rd Conners Continuous Performance Test, CPT3™ mostly measures attention deficits and is used to diagnose ADHD. It's a computerized test that takes 14 minutes. Patients sit in front of a computer screen and have to press the spacebar when any letter except “X”...
The New Scientist had this article on the subject dated April 2020:

I'm looking for the early discussion on the S4ME forum but also elsewhere in the ME/CFS patient community of the idea that the corona-pandemic might lead to an increase in ME/CFS incidence.
I found this thread which started discussing this at the end of February 2020 but I suspect there will be...
This figure got a lot of attention because of the stark differences between the two graphs. But as someone pointed out to me, these are sample averages for different metabolites which make it easier to have sharp contrasts without overlap between patients and controls.
These aren't the...
From the discussion section:
"For the typical patient, the most debilitating symptom was fatigue, followed by muscular and joint pain, cognitive symptoms (brain fog), sleep disorder, and sensory intolerance. Close to half of those with very severe disease had onset before 15 years of age...
I don't understand it either. Is this even a valid method if most of the ME/CFS patients in the biobank could not have developed ME/CFS through COVID-19 as it has only been around for a couple of years?
They compared patients who met the first criterium of the Fukuda criteria (severe unexplained fatigue) to patients who met the first and second criterium (4 out of 8 additional symptoms). The first group was labelled severe fatigue, the second ME/CFS. All diagnoses were based on retrospective...
