    Open Medicine Foundation (OMF) fundraising

I don’t disagree. However I don’t think we should be too worried, people find this or that charity appealing for various reasons and OMF seems to fit in a place of their own. They are aggressive, but they are also giving a lot of people hope and actually putting the money to good use to deliver...

Science minded people--help me engineer a simple structure to stay warm?

Xps (had to google that!) could work well but could be hard to seal them well enough to keep the wind and draft out while still keeping enough ventilation. If you could build a small cot and seal the gaps well, then make a door out of a tarp or something that would protect against the wind it...

Science minded people--help me engineer a simple structure to stay warm?

An idea for something to use as a ‘floor’ could be those thick playmats that look like gigantic jigsaw puzzles. You could do several layers if necessary and they should be easier to handle than big boards. Like this:

Science minded people--help me engineer a simple structure to stay warm?

My initial thoughts as an industrial designer and engineer that spent a lot of time camping in colder regions: Layers are everything, both for clothing and insulation. As has been suggested, having a tarp over your tent is a simple but likely effective solution. A tarp that keeps rain and snow...

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

That headache sounds like something you should talk to a doctor about, if you can manage:) Though I often have tension headaches and have a history of migraines, I'm lucky enough that I don't have a chronic headache. The acute pain when coughing or straining though is so bad I was sure I was...

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

Thanks @Jonathan Edwards for the tip. I would assume the situation is pretty similar. I'll ask around.

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

That's the plan! I don't think we have any 'specialists' in the country, so no worries there:) It seems most people who have actually been operated on have been through the university hospitals in Oslo or Trondheim. I'll see a private neurologist first to avoid spending 6 months waiting for a...

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

@diwa I did, but none of the reports say anything about it. From what I understand a cranial MRI would not be enough on it's own in any case, but I could be wrong. One of the things I will ask the neurologist about :) It would be great if that is enough to put all of this to rest, I don't...

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

I am pursuing Chiari malformation and syringomyelia as potential differential diagnosis and believe it could be helpful if I chronicle the experience here for others who might be curious. While I have always felt ME was and is the appropriate diagnosis in my case, having been diagnosed after...

PEM for those who are, or were, mild sufferers, how would you describe it?

Good points here. I had trouble standing up for long for years before I started to develop clear signs of ME, while I was still very active and fit.

Compared to last year this looks great.

USA: Center for Solutions for ME/CFS - news and updates from Columbia University's NIH funded center, Lipkin

There is a Mac behind him on another desk:) but yes, definitely staged. I’m also unsure about some of his claims, but I agree it’s a plus that he seems to reach some people who have been very reticent to believe that there’s anything real to ME/CFS.

Audio distraction: podcasts, audio books, radio on demand

I loved “The long way to a small, angry planet” by Becky Chambers. There are 2 more books in the series, as well.

Open Norway: Haukeland university hospital (Fluge/Mella) seeking ME-patients nearby Bergen to wear fitbit for 6 months

I don't think they'll have any trouble getting enough participants, after all Haukeland Hospital is in Norway's second largest city and the research team enjoys a high level of trust in the community. Plus many patients are already connected to the hospital through their specialist/diagnostic...

A proposal for ME Action: a commitment to evidence-based medicine

Great letter, Michiel. Please add my name as well. [removed name as it is already signed and doesn’t need to stay in the post]

C-section babies are missing key microbes

I think something like it is common practice most places now, that’s my impression anyway.

A 4-day mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural intervention program for CFS/ME. An open study, with one-year follow-up, 2018, Stubhaug et al

Might have something to do with a new «health center» that aims to offer this «treatment» to all chronically ill patients to “improve their health”. I think. Could only read the headlines, but with what you’re saying I think I’m probably right.

    What is this?

Have to agree with @JemPD here. You should see your GP about this.
