The Chronic Elephant blog by hellytheelephant

Pacing, im with you, I’m not sure what I’d hope to achieve from that. I just do what I can, when I can, till I can’t. What I can do seems to be a little less week by week, and I wonder if the condition might turn severe with me, but meanwhile I just try and achieve a little something every day.

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

You just diagnosed me right there.

American Council on Science and Health: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Progress Towards Diagnosis And Treatment, Finally?

I get annoyed by the unclear and uncommitted terminology and definitions. Was admittedly too ill to read the whole thing, but this thing either has these core symptoms or it does not. No “may” or “can” about it. Same with treatments and cures. Either they work (statistically safe peer reviewed...

Article: Recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome as an intra-active process, 2019, Synne Groven and Dahl-Michelson

It’s ok to call bullshit for what it is. We will never end the stigma unless we filter and oppose the bullshit.

I suggest this person never had ME in the first place or the remission was a coincidence, which is perfectly plausible. You either wake up in the morning feeling like roadkill or you do not. You CAN NOT wish it away. I do wish more people in public forums had the nerve to correct woolly thinking.

Article: Recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome as an intra-active process, 2019, Synne Groven and Dahl-Michelson

Sure, there’s many ways to improve symptoms, but the insistence here was that acupuncture was a cure.

Article: Recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome as an intra-active process, 2019, Synne Groven and Dahl-Michelson

Check this for a response: Paul Welsh I think these modern illnesses are here to break paradigms. This illness is multi systemic and complex. It’s not very unscientific to use different ways to get well. I relish in her healing process and hoe we all will figure out how to recover our...

Article: Recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome as an intra-active process, 2019, Synne Groven and Dahl-Michelson

I just left one FB page after someone calling themselves a doctor insisted that acupuncture cures many diseases. I asked for list, was told to research it my self. I called BS and checked out.

The Lancet: Opinion: "Offline: Transcending the guilt of global health", Horton

I used to be a cheerleader for the NHS and the likes of the Lancet, but extraordinary experiences with my late father and the nonsense of my own as yet undiagnosed "tiredness" are leading me to question that faith. There's an arrogance frequently encountered from GPs and everywhere else which is...

    Ketogenic diet

Having done low carb before I know it works for weight loss, and I know it’s a living hell for months with huge consequences for energy! Effort wise, what am I willing to go through? Well if losing carbs will fix the problem I’ll do it. For a mild increase in energy, I don’t know.

Monaghan & Shepherd meeting DWP and assessment companies

I’m grateful I had Fightback4justice to help with my form. Haven’t had the results yet but the assessor seemed to have a handle on my issues.

    Pain & CBD (Cannabidiol)?

I’ve tried further with vaping thc stuff, and no positive result. Hate to say it, only thing I’ve found that helps so far is alcohol.

    Ketogenic diet

I’ve just been listening to Dr Myhill talking about Keto and right or wrong her tone of voice and the zeal of her approach made me reach for the off button. The original poster talked of remission, what’s your situation now? Did it work?

    Pain & CBD (Cannabidiol)?

I’ve found a supply of the oil containing THC. I’ve just added back pain to my symptoms so I’ve had a squirt. Will report back later (if capable)
