"Fitbits and other wearables may not accurately track heart rates in people of color" STAT News

This is interesting. But relatively, they should still be able so show an increase/decrease relative to averages, right? Unless the poorer signal from melanin somehow fluctuates based on other factors.

Trudie Chalder, BPS and MUS proponent - presentations, interviews and news

Not that I'm aware of. It was sort of glossed over.

Trudie Chalder, BPS and MUS proponent - presentations, interviews and news

It's in the transcript of her speech above. She sings his praises. ETA: Link here: https://www.s4me.info/threads/13-march-2019-chalder-%E2%80%98medically-unexplained-symptoms%E2%80%99-my-clinical-and-research-journey-over-30-years.5576/page-3#post-152193

Trudie Chalder, BPS and MUS proponent - presentations, interviews and news

It's interesting that she openly admits to working with this guy: http://gaynewsarchive.org/tag/isaac-marks/ He's notorious for his type of conversion therapy ('aversion therapy'), which involved drugs to induce nausea and causing suffering to patients.

Weird NHS ME clinic referral form

My guess is that they ask this because older studies have claimed those who attribute their illness to a solely physical cause won't recover. It's an old idea.

UK benefits advice: Universal Credit and limited capability for work

Understood. Thanks. The CAB seems the best way to go. Perhaps if you have any evidence to 'prove' your limitations, too, like a report from an OT, that might help.

UK benefits advice: Universal Credit and limited capability for work

You're self-employed, so technically you can charge whatever you want, even nothing. Couldn't you add six hours of pro bono work, or virtual volunteering, in somewhere? It seems odd that they specify you should earn a specific amount. (My response would be, 'I'll charge it if you pay it.') The...

BBC radio programme on diagnostic names 12/07/2019

The issue is that this was a huge vehicle for Simon Wessely. There's no doubt in my mind he'd have got the last word.

They were probably best left out.

ME Epidemiology - prevalence and peak ages of onset

I can't remember. I thought it was due to a doubling of one of other numbers as a guesstimate.

ME Epidemiology - prevalence and peak ages of onset

Isn't 2.5 million equivalent to the 0.82% (or thereabouts) from the 'CFS-like' figure?

GnoME = Genome ME GeneSeME = Gene Sequence Has anyone tried this? http://acronymcreator.net/ I can't get it to work, but it might be useful.

If we're doing that you could just add S (for 'study of') to my suggestion above.

Post-Exertional Malaise Is Associated with Hypermetabolism, Hypoacetylation and Purine Metabolism Deregulation in ME/CFS Cases, 2019, McGregor et al

That could be possible too. Though I would've assumed dehydrated people's urine would smell more of urea, and that a proportion of those with dehydration may have high blood sugar anyway, since it's relatively common. Glucose metabolism problems have been raised before in ME. The CFIDS...

MicroRNAs as biomarkers of pain intensity in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome. Al-Rawaf (2019)

Yes, it looks like they're reaching. It's all a bit sloppy, isn't it?

Post-Exertional Malaise Is Associated with Hypermetabolism, Hypoacetylation and Purine Metabolism Deregulation in ME/CFS Cases, 2019, McGregor et al

That's what I noticed too. It could be. It fits some of the symptoms, at least. Didn't acute renal failure lead to Sophia Mirza's death? I wonder if this is a complication that occurs in severe cases, or if it is just something that happens to all of us, but to a lesser degree? Obviously this...
