Unusual idea for a fundraiser! What do YOU think causes ME/CFS? We want to hear from you! The underlying cause of ME/CFS is still a mystery… one that we are working hard to solve every day. We know there are many different theories and avenues to explore, but we want to hear what our community thinks. The cause that receives the most votes will be the focus of a special webinar to explore the current research and scientific theories in that area. [...] Choose from: a. Infections (eg. Mononucleosis, Epstein-bar virus) b. Immune System (eg. Auto-immune response, natural killer cells, T-cell activation) c. Neurological (eg. Brain infection, vagus nerve) d. Genetic (eg. Faulty genes, DNA or energy production) e. Environmental (eg. Toxic exposure, mold) f. Other Vote for what you believe is the cause of ME/CFS. Your $5 donation is one vote and there is no limit to how often, how much, or how many different causes you can vote for. Every dollar you donate goes to further ME/CFS research and advocacy. https://give.idonate.com/solve-me-cfs-initiative/Cash4theCause
I'm sorry but who are these people asking me for money? Their "Donate" button works but their "Story" button doesn't. Do we know them? Could be scammers for all I know.
I got to it direct from the link in Solve's tweet here: https://twitter.com/user/status/927025125643370496 Would you rather delete the thread if you think there's a problem?
I think it's probably just a matter of them not having finished their website? (I mean maybe they haven't yet added anything behind the Story link, so the link is dead.) This message was on Solve ME/CFS Initiative's FB page as well. Looks legit to me...
From @Sasha 's post or the website itself there was no way for me to see that it was from Solve, unless I noticed it in the URL, which I didn't. So now I know it's legit.
On the bottom of the website that Sasha posted it says it's from Solve ME/CFS Initiative, but I agree that they could have added that info in a more prominent place and at least could have added their logo somewhere too. It's good to be guarded about online donation stuff, it's easy to set up a scam web shell that looks like it's coming from a trusted party.
I was hoping that they'd be able to tell us! I've no idea what causes ME/CFS. I tend to assume that none of the current criteria are able to pick out a homogenous sub-group with a single cause of ill-health, but I'm not even confident about that.
Yes, in Solve's tweet the weblink starts www.Solvecfs.org but it immediately takes you to this other thing. I agree!
I'm guessing in response to some of the comment's on their Facebook posts, Solve have issued this statement
Solve have announced the results of this on Facebook Code: https://www.facebook.com/SolveMECFSInitiative/posts/10155066704282108 It's going to be interesting to see what their webinar is actually going to be on.
