An old medicine as a new drug to prevent mitochondrial complex I from producing oxygen radicals https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0216385 In use since 1696! How about that? Maybe test in the nano-needle? (different mechanism than SS-31)
I've a bottle of pure anethole, which I took internally at 12 drops daily for 5 months. I did not notice much, though it may have improved my IBS-D symptoms a little. Anethole though is not quite the same molecule as anethole trithione, so I am not sure if anethole has these antioxidant effects in mitochondria. Anethole is the primary ingredient of: Fennel essential oil Anise essential oil Star anise essential oil Anethole is found in the alcoholic drinks sambuca, ouzo, pastis and Pernod. (I am particularly fond of sambuca).
Yeah anethole is different from anethole trithione— the former doesn’t have the three sulfur molecules.
here is a short summary of this research. https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2019/05/anethole-trithione-is-a-mitochondrial-ros-blocker/
SS31 = elamipretide which naviaux seems to suggests MitoQ = supplement similar to coQ10 SkQ1 = cardiolipin peroxidation inhibitor, 95% pwmecfs have auto-antibodies Sulfarlem = 60 pills 1.31 Euro, France and Switzerland
