Researchers in Sussex launch pioneering study looking into Long Covid

This has just been on the news where I am.

Those suffering with Long Covid in Sussex are among some of the first in the world to take part in a ground-breaking study into the illness.

Researchers are looking into how the illness affects the brain, with thousands of people believed to have been left with long term memory problems and extreme fatigue after contracting coronavirus.

A pioneering study at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath will use MRI scanners to analyse the brains of those suffering from long Covid.

The results will be used to come up with therapies to help people return to normal daily activities.

hmm, 'therapies to help people return to normal daily activities'

The 'come up with therapies' part may be a wee bit optimistic, but we won't figure ME out without data, so the more projects collecting potentially useful data, the better. I believe that ME is primarily neurological (with downstream effects on the body), so I support studies of the brain.

My brain has been scanned a couple of times, but not for ME. I was told I had some scattering of "white nodules" (I think), and when I said that I believed that it was common for folk with ME, was told that it wasn't unusual anyway.

But I do have evidence that I have a brain.

Now I'm no expert in science or anything but I'm pretty sure this is not how this works. Sounds too much like the HMS PACE and it's pre-planned destination.

Or maybe it's just a bad journalist with a fresh batch of hopium. Lots of work ahead before then.
