Has anyone got one that they would recommend? I think I could do with one. Might need to split small pills into quarters so I need something that can cope with that.

    Thanks.

I got a decent one from Tesco's pharmacy—just checked and they still sell them.

As long as they enclose the pill (so that one half doesn't shoot off somewhere), most of them are probably good enough to do the job. If you visit a pharmacy for meds, they may sell them or be able to recommend one.

Check if the pills you are splitting are enteric coated to protect the contents against stomach acid. If they are then you should repackage the split pill into an enteric gelatine capsule. You can can buy them easily enough on eBay, chemists/pharmacists, etc. Look for the white ones, not the clear ones.

I use a scalpel. Something like this which comes with spare blades. The blades have never gone rusty and they last for absolutely ages.

I have bought pill cutters in the past, and I do keep one in stock for occasional use, but I haven't found one with spare blades, and the blade the cutter comes provided with has gone rusty on occasion. Before going rusty some of them I've tried have not been very sharp at all.

You could ask the pharmacist if they can do it for you.

I have gone for one of the highly rated but relatively cheap ones off Amazon. I'll see how it is. If it starts to blunt or otherwise play up I'll pay more next time.
