Japan declares a flu epidemic — what this means for other nations

Yeah, a nurse friend says it's come early in the UK too. It doesn't usually take off here till Christmas/new year.

Also a lot of people testing positive for Covid without any symptoms. They're on the ward for something unconnected, but they test in-patients anyway.

I missed everything that went around this year. Masks have done their job well for me as usual, along with sanitizing hands when out. I don't know how many times I have sat close to people with obvious beginnings of a cold or Covid and still did not catch anything.

I haven't had a cold since Sept. 2021, and I am enjoying a long break from all that miserableness.

Edit: changed 2001 to 2021.

Not even any anosmia? That's my first check for Covid.

No, but that's normal. It's fairly common have no symptoms at all, and also to get a cold that's impossible to differentiate from any other unless you use LFTs.

FWIW, none of my infections featured anosmia, and only one gave me symptoms for a couple of days that made me think "This feels like more than a cold". But I do keep LFTs in the house; I seem to be one of the few who still thinks it's important not to go and sit in a room with a bunch of people if you have Covid, even when you're well enough to carry on as normal.

I had a lot of dental appointments in the last 6 months but haven't caught anything that I aware of. I'm of the subset of pwME that feels 'viral' 80% of time so who knows. I start masking again a month ago and will continue to mask.

I got Covid in 2022 and didn't experience anosmia but it took me a little over 6 months to recover. The leg muscle fatigue and rapid heart rate were the worst symptoms.
