In our family on the CPET, in addition to low oxygen uptake during exercise, we also have a wide pulse pressure. Our youngest daughter, now 13 years old, had a CPET yesterday. Her blood pressure went from 104 over 65 while resting to 124 over 40 while exercising.
We know our ME is related...
Ubiquinol at breakfast and also at lunch. Taking it too late in the day makes it hard for me to sleep. If I've got a late afternoon/evening that requires me to be up (have energy), I'll take a third ubiquinol dose ... but I know doing this third dose and doing too much will leave me with less...

Yesterday, at the grocery store I had momentary weakness in my right hand as I was putting a jar of tomato sauce into my cart. I ended up dropping the jar and there was broken glass and tomato sauce all over the floor. My husband and I are so used to these incidents happening that we just...
@JaimeS
I'm so sorry you are going through this.
I have the weakness most heavily in my right foot and leg. Sometimes my leg will just go out while I'm walking (without any advance notice) and I'll fall to my butt. I sit on the ground until it comes back on line. The weakness isn't there...
Here is the 2019 National UMDF Conference info. Yep 2019. I checked. :banghead: It's in Washington, DC.

I haven't heard Bruce Barshop previously speak. However, his recent article "Promises and pitfalls of untargeted metabolomics" was very interesting. His session at the conference is titled "Metabolomics – Next Generation Diagnostics".

Ooops. That conference was Feb 2018. I'm losing it. Sorry
Here is the link I had in the original post.

I have gone to many different UMDF regional conferences. I'm sorry I missed this one.
In January, I'll be writing 2018 on my checks for the first...
I agree with @Barry
In our family with mitochondrial disease caused by the same mtDNA variants, we each have different energy needs. Several of us in the family are also diagnosed with ME/CFS. The men in our family are more likely to have autistic spectrum and have other health issues (such...
I've gotten several notes from people stating that they missed the free days for my book on Amazon. For anyone who missed it, my book will be free this Saturday, December 15, 2018 on Amazon.
Wigglethemouse gave me a heads-up about this live event later today.

"Please join us for our free live stream event, tomorrow Weds. Dec. 5th 6pm MST. Mutations in Energy and Autoimmune Genes Cooperate to Cause ME/CFS" with Alan Light, PhD. New findings suggest that multiple...
Thanks @Mithriel
I agree. In the 2014 study "Impairment of Myocardial Mitochondria in Viral Myocardial Disease and Its Reflective Window in Peripheral Cells", the researchers methods included: "The mouse model of viral myocarditis (VMC) was established by Coxsackie virus B3 infection and...
There is no one tool I use. Generally, I'll first do a quick Google search of "G15150A" and then "15150G>A". Generally this will bring up what I need before I head into any deep dive. However, Google knows what sites I look at most (my favorite go to's) and the results of my Google searches...
Well said. These little machines within us can have multiple places where dysfunction can occur, that have similar results. There can be multiple issues including dysfunction in ATP production and at the other end usage issues such as a problem with uptake of ATP by an organ(s)/system(s)...
Thank you @Ravn
There are many scientists who have expressed interest in hunting for ME predisposing variant combinations. How far along and what their parameters, focus, tools, etc.... is unknown. Ron Davis mentioned ongoing work and future studies in his recent OMF presentation. Nova...
Thanks @Hutan
Very interesting. At one of the UMDF (United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation) conferences I attended last year, one of the mito experts was asked about paternal inheritance. That was the first time I heard someone deviate from the maternal only inheritance pattern of mtDNA...
@Trish. You’re welcome. It was my pleasure.
None of the tests are perfect.
The cheapest way to determine your maternal haplogroup is through 23andme’s ancestry test. It’s $69 right now. 23andme does not test for most of the snp’s. The positions they do test for can be seen either by...
Great questions @Trish . My brain stopped working a few hours ago, so I’ll do my best to answer now -- fully knowing my answer may sound like gibberish. I may have to come back and revisit my answer tomorrow morning when my brain comes back online. Here’s the best I can do at the moment.
My...
Hi Alvin,
Something I learned recently was that e-books don't have well defined page numbers. Because one person might read the book on a tablet, another on a phone, and another on a computer -- and all at different fonts -- e-books use a free flow format where pages cut at different places...
