Do you get post-exertional malaise from being outdoors?

Thank you for the responses! Some very good points have been brought up. As I'm able to, I'll edit the original post to include the additional PEM triggers and solutions people have mentioned and will credit you as well

Do you get post-exertional malaise from being outdoors?

@Ravn The delayed immune reaction sounds like one more piece of the mystery. If you're in the US, airnow.gov has daily ozone readings based on zip code. I think air pressure may also have an effect on symptoms. Pressure's usually listed along with temperature on weather sites.

Do you get post-exertional malaise from being outdoors?

@Alvin So true about interactions, decisions, etc. taking a toll! I get PEM just from lying on my doorstep by myself, though. I'm so glad you brought up vibrations. I actually wanted to make a thread asking about that but thought I might be imagining it. Vibrations from air conditioning, the...

Do you get post-exertional malaise from being outdoors?

@Hutan That's such a good idea! I never thought of that. I'll try that when I have energy!

Do you get post-exertional malaise from being outdoors?

Do you get post-exertional malaise (PEM) from going outdoors, not related to exercise? If so, do you know what causes it in your case? I've tried to reduce all the triggers of PEM I could think of when going outside, but I still get PEM. The possible triggers and solutions I've tried...

Blood flow problem in left arm ?

If you're able to get to an orthopedic doctor, they might have some ideas. An occupational therapist might be able to give you advice on adjusting how your space is arranged and how you're sitting. Please disregard this if you already knew of these two things. They were new to me when I started...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@Trish Thank you! It is a huge relief! I hope my findings were correct, so it's something I can control :) -- For those still with gastroparesis, I forgot to say that one thing that helped me a little over the months was having the juice from a slice of lemon. I don't know why that is or if...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

My gastroparesis is 90% gone. I found out the most likely cause of the gastroparesis was taking CoQ10, as odd as that is. I was very surprised, because some people take CoQ10 to help gastroparesis. It didn't seem to be the excipients in the pills, either, as I tried more than one brand. I...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@Subtropical Island A google search didn't really give a good answer, but it sounds like it's possible. At least, other people have mentioned having that happen. Hopefully someone who knows more can answer your question.

How to deal with Unexpected stresses

    COMT/MAO issue

I’m sorry, I don’t know about the mutation, but I’ve tried Viibryd. It sounds like you don’t plan to try it, but I think if you do try it, you should trust your gut about how low of a dose you would need with your sensitive system. I let my doctor decide what was a low dose and slow titration...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@Arnie Pye Thank you for explaining the difference between agonist and antagonist! It went right over my head in your original post (brain fog is heavy). Does that mean you had too much or too little dopamine? I meant to say I had serotonin syndrome- too much serotonin.

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@ME3 No need to apologize! I understand very well and hope the effort of responding didn't set you back. That's very interesting about antacids acting like antibiotics. I'd never heard it before. Sorry to read about the instance of yellow skin you had. I'm still trying to figure out which...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@ahimsa Thank you for the articles! I'll give them a read when I'm able to read more. How long were you on LDN before the gastroparesis began? I was on it for a month with no problem before the gastroparesis began, so I can't directly link it to the gastroparesis. Thanks for the tips. I'm...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

@ME3 I’ll look up the esomeprazole, thank you! Sweet corn, apples, and beetroot seem like good ideas. Apple sauce without added sugar seems to be okay for me. May I ask what kind of probiotic you take? I realize it’s different for each person, but I’m not sure where to start. Thanks for all the...

    Gastroparesis, post-prandial pain, eating difficulties

If you have gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying), what sets it off for you? Have you found anything that helps? How do you sleep? How do you get all the nutrients? It really affects quality of life...

Breathlessness and air hunger in ME/CFS

@ladycatlover thank you  @Dechi that’s so spot on- I have asthma as well and they’re distinctly different. Fingers crossed that your spirometry test results are helpful.

Can you recommend a good online polling site?

Strawpoll fits what you’re looking for, although not sure how much it lets you write with the question.

Breathlessness and air hunger in ME/CFS

I tried an inhaler, and it helps for a few minutes. I checked and am not taking any GABA substances. Does sitting up or lying down make a difference for any of you? I think I’m panicking because it’s night and I can’t go to the doctor, plus feeling too sick to go. I have an appointment tomorrow...
