Every yr i have to replace the chaise cushion because after i while the foam goes soft at the head end & i detest sitting with my bottom significantly lower than my knees - thats why i find a recliner chair so...

Advice on mask-wearing to protect against Covid-19

I imagine they are quoting (wrongly) the most recent Cochrane review on masks - we do have a thread here on that review but my addled brain cant find it in this moment. yes i did watch a video about this - that N95s dont work due to their thicker fabric but because of the way they are made with...

Typing myalgic encephalomyelitis by infection at onset: A DecodeME study, 2023, Bretherick et al

yes absolutely agree. I was clearly not awake enough to be posting this morning as i see now my post was unnecessary & your point was clear, i didnt take in the context given by prior posts fully enough. Sorry  Edited: for clarity, & to add that i so pleased the reason i've not seen...

Typing myalgic encephalomyelitis by infection at onset: A DecodeME study, 2023, Bretherick et al

H @Sarah94 nice to see you, it seems like ages, perhaps i just missed your posts. I hope you're as well as you can be the key word there being 'after'. I'm pleased for him but as you know, it doesnt mean that transtioning was the cause of the improvement, with such a fluctuating and...

    Earseeds, Acuseeds

So Giselle, if you're reading this, I mean you no harm, we mean you no harm, you are safe here even though what we say may be rather robust in its critique of your ideas & behaviour. We're frustrated & even angry with some of what you've done & said, but i recognise you may, mean well. And also...

I cant bring myself to watch it, but is ME presented as a serious condition that Drs said she'd never recover from? (despite being able to be cured by acupressure)

    Earseeds, Acuseeds

oh no! Cue several people telling me, with excitement, that i should try them because they cured this woman on tv. For a start i find it hard to believe any UK GP would ever tell anyone they would never recover & never have children. That would be radically, radically against the establishment...

A Review of BMJ Best Practice Document on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by Professor James Baraniuk

I agree with all the comments so far. This bit also bugs me... yet again, although it nods to the fact that differences of opinion are held between specialists, its still setting it up as scientists/medics think one thing & patients something different. Not good at summarising what i mean but...

Efficacy and Acceptance of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Adults with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Meta-analysis, 2024, Maas genannt Bermpohl et al.

The floggings will continue until the dead horse runs. Trouble is, they keep reanimating the ruddy thing, taxidermy extraordinaire, people in it like a pantomime horse. And its still trampling a lot of people, mowing them down.

If you had to guess ME/CFS cause, what'd you say?

Ah good that's what i thought you meant, thanks for clarifying.

If you had to guess ME/CFS cause, what'd you say?

but if what you are studying is 'X' condition that among other things makes people stagger, giving the mouse alcohol and then studying it, tells you nothing about 'X' condition, it tells you only about the effects of staggering caused by alcohol. Sure... but since we dont have anything...

If you had to guess ME/CFS cause, what'd you say?

Assume you mean by this gross delusions - of the 'aliens have taken over the planet and are trying to kill me type delusion you would see in paranoid schizophrenia etc? I only mention it because wow in a really bad bout of PEM when my cognitive function is very bad & i feel really drunk/drugged...

If you had to guess ME/CFS cause, what'd you say?

You cannot possibly make an 'mouse model' of ME, you cannot make an animal model of something that you do not know what is biologically causing it. You can make an animal possibly behave in ways that are similar, but then drunk people, people with hypoxia, people who have just run a marathon...

What can we learn from the Post Office scandal publicity (including TV)?

but this is precisely the point... that YOU wouldnt be the one doing it. Its not the audience thats the problem, an audience can understand anything if its presented correctly, the issue is that ALL the makers of the programme have to understand, before it is made, because they all have...

What can we learn from the Post Office scandal publicity (including TV)?

yes they are great people who have grasped things, but out of how many who've been contacted to explain theyve made a mistake? out of how many whove been recommended to read the literature, whove been sign posted to the info, how many have actually read it and understoof it? The ones that get...

You see, clearly my numbers will be the winning ones in tonight's draw, because Adam is already planning how to spend my money in prep for it

What can we learn from the Post Office scandal publicity (including TV)?

I hear you, but i simply dont believe that person exists - they'd already be doing it, or can be coached/educated until they do. The issues, in order to get it accurate, are way way too complex to understand. Those are the valid arguments yes.... but the majority of patients/advocates dont even...
