Anyone who lost taste/smell as a result of Covid - Have you improved?

I lost my sense of smell at various times during COVID, and do so at times even now, then it comes back again. It seems to happen quite often, although in at least one case my sense of smell actually increased during apparent COVID...

$500 000 Gift to OMF - Chris Armstrong

It seems to be increasingly common, including in how politicians speak. It's common in documentaries too now, which I get so fed up with that I switch off.

Effects of structured exercise program on severity of dizziness, kinesiophobia, balance, fatigue .. in bilateral vestibular hypofunction, 2023, Genc

Right, this is seriously weird - could it be one of the many phony, possibly artificially-produced 'studies'? It says: "A twelve-week structured VR program may enhance severity..." but it also says: "In this study, we demonstrated that a 12-week vestibular rehabilitation program...

Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and COVID-19: is there a connection? 2023, Al Muhaissen et al

Poll - Have You Ever Believed In Psychosomatic Illness?

I used to believe in all sorts of psychological stuff and other weird things (e.g. aliens visiting us!) but I don't really believe any of it now. Having studied science to Masters level I think I became able to dismiss most of it, although I'm fascinated by the weirder theories about astronomy...

Dopesick - The opioid crisis in the USA

An unfortunate consequence of the control measures in the US seems to be that relatively-benign treatments like kaolin and morphine, which used to be available over the counter in UK chemist shops, are no longer available without prescription. I used to get a lot of diarrhoea, and found K & M...

Alcohol intolerance and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, 2023, Maciuch, Jason

I don't know how I would rate in such a study - I am definitely intolerant of more than about one glass of wine now, but in the early years of ME I drank as usual, i.e. a lot - and didn't suffer for it. I am still not severely affected by ME, although generally worse than at the start, but I...
