INIM (NSU Institute for Neuro-immuneMedicine) webinar - 'Understanding ME/CFS Today: A Clinical & Research Approach' May 2020

Dry nose may occur in Sjogren's Disease. Other possible symptoms in Sjogren's are dry skin, dry mouth, dry eyes and dry ears. Arthritis can occur because of dry joints. I'm sure there are other symptoms, but the ones I've mentioned are all I can remember off the top of my head. Edit : There is...

Do Women With Severe Persistent Fatigue Present With Fatigue at the Primary Care Consultation?, 2020, olde Hartman et al

Just out of interest I clicked on each name in the first quote box in post #1. The first three names only returned the paper shown in post #1. The fourth name returned 8545 results. I'm not sure what this is telling me!

Chronic pain syndromes and other persistent functional somatic symptoms, 2020, Roenneburg et al

I do envy the people who write this garbage. They've clearly never experienced severe pain that goes on and on and on, that nobody believes in and for which no treatment is forthcoming. It must be nice to be in that situation.

Blog: A totally useless therapy for benign and malign conditions – where is the difference? - Edzard Ernst

I've been told by some doctors that my self-treatment of various problems with vitamins and minerals is "alternative medicine" and therefore what I'm doing is nonsense designed to drain the contents of my wallet. This encompasses things like : 1) Wanting to keep my B12 level high because I...

From the quote in post #68 : "The cohort was predominantly female (85%)" I thought that men were the worst sufferers of severe Covid-19? A community cohort study was conducted with adults aged ≥18 years recruited through a mainstream and social media campaign There must have been something...

Covid-19 - Psychological research and treatment

Homeopaths almost certainly do less damage than IAPT, CBT and blaming everything on MUS, so I'd be happier with the homeopaths.

Why health anxiety needs to be recognised in hospital practice, 2020, Tyrer

Reference for the above : Nimnuan C, Hotopf M, Wessely S. Medically unexplained symptoms: an epidemiological study in seven specialities. J Psychosom Res 2001;51:361–7. Is this reference the same one that @dave30th has debunked on several occasions?

Why health anxiety needs to be recognised in hospital practice, 2020, Tyrer

This is why I don't go and see doctors unless my problem is actually visible. But, as you've found too, from experience I know that having a visible problem is no guarantee of getting appropriately treated or being treated with kindness or politeness.

    Simon Wessely on Covid-19

I've just been reading Dr Kendrick's latest blog : https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/2020/05/16/food-bank-show-next-episode/ and as usual it is well worth reading. I also liked this comment on the blog by someone called Shaun Clark. It made me think of SW :

    Simon Wessely on Covid-19

Describing people as "fearful" in this context comes across as being derogatory. What in most people would be described as prudence or common sense under the circumstances is being given a derogatory label by SW and I can only assume that this is deliberate.

    CoQ10 - Coenzyme Q10

That's rather a strange way of testing something. First do a small study where everyone knows what the subjects are taking, including the subjects themselves. Then follow this with a proper RCT. Why not just combine the two pools of subjects and do a larger RCT?
