Funding has been the issue .

Children become exceptionally good at telling people what they think they want to hear , particularly if they are uncomfortable and want to make a situation end sooner rather than later .
This is so basic , and psychology rarely acknowledges it .

There have been a growing number of messages/ news articles about gynaecological / medical procedures being done with no pain relief offered and pain has been excruciating.
It just doesn't seem to be a consideration.

Disappointingly the authors are mostly female . I doubt any of them has endometriosis.
It probably provides validation for others who have experienced the same thing. Power asymmetry will factor into this type of consultation, and how that plays out is very individual.
