Symptoms in women with fibromyalgia after performing physical activity: the role of pain catastrophizing and disease impact, 2022, López-Gómez et al

I wish the researchers could live in the bodies of the sick people before they stick a nasty label and prescribe cognitive therapy to correct behaviours. They have no understanding. I mean what if the patients were honest about what is happening in their body and it was a physical (ie...

HRA (Health Research Authority) & Bristol University's report on E. Crawley's CFS/ME Studies over registration to the Research Ethics Committee (2019)

If she can be funded for all these studies, she should be able to spend the time to submit to ethics review boards to ensure that her research is sound. Thank you for bringing it up again @dave30th. I wonder whether the people at Retraction Watch would be interested in this post?

    News from Canada

they say that in order to recover you must participate in self-management... blah blah blah. The discharging of patients is not new- and abandoning patients is not new. I would suspect that those that recovered did not do so because of the program, they simply had enough oomph in their cells to...

Orthostatic Intolerance in Adults Reporting Long COVID Symptoms Was Not Associated With Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, 2022, Ann Monaghan

I think their protocol is decreasing the chances of positive tilt table test for both POTS, because they had that 5 minutes active stand test just before hand. Moreover, just before the TTT they only rest their patients 5 minutes They said that 15% of their cohort is already on...

Coenzyme Q10 + alpha lipoic acid for chronic COVID syndrome (2022) Barletta et al

but unless your diet is not varied and sufficient (say you can only eat 2 or 3 food and nothing else, you are not bound to be deficient in anything that would jeopardize your functioning. I would hope that if you only ate bananas, pasta and peas, that you thought of taking a multi-vitamin. There...

Coenzyme Q10 + alpha lipoic acid for chronic COVID syndrome (2022) Barletta et al

I very much doubt that vitamins and minerals will be the cure for post-viral illnesses such as ME and LC. We pwME have been at it for decades and vitamin protocols have cycled through and through, same for diets protocols. We are still here.

Coenzyme Q10 + alpha lipoic acid for chronic COVID syndrome (2022) Barletta et al

It is unclear what timeframe was allocated while on these supplements- are we talking weeks? Months? When was the effect recorded? Is there a longer term measurement planned?

Coenzyme Q10 + alpha lipoic acid for chronic COVID syndrome (2022) Barletta et al

Low-Dose Hydrocortisone for Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - A Randomized Controlled Trial, 1998, McKenzie et al

Early on in my disease, I felt absolutely shitty, and I begged my doctor to do a Cortisol test. I did the AM and not sure if I did the PM that particular time, but the AM cortisol came back flagged at a critical low number, to the point where the lab phoned my doctor instead of just faxing the...

Phenotypic characteristics of peripheral immune cells of ME/CFS via transmission electron microscopy: A pilot study, Jahanbani et al, 2022

I tend to agree, but it seems like this work, particularly the electron microscopy is detailed and labor intensive, and not something you'd do by the hundreds.

Phenotypic characteristics of peripheral immune cells of ME/CFS via transmission electron microscopy: A pilot study, Jahanbani et al, 2022

Agreed re: N=2. We do know that we are extremely heterogenous and missed diagnosis happen. We certainly cannot draw any conclusion from this paper or generalize to our community. Further comments: The 2 subjects investigated are men and within ME women are over-representated by a 4 to one...

Oxaloacetate Treatment For Mental And Physical Fatigue In (ME/CFS) and Long-COVID fatigue patients, 2022, Cash and Kaufman

Could it have been the prohibitive cost? Were the long-covid patients required to purchase it? Would allegiance to your doctor matters when it comes to participating in a study like this? Long-Covid patients would not have such allegiance or connection with the doctor.

Detection of G Protein-Coupled Receptor Autoantibodies in Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome Using Standard Methodology (2022) Hall et al

I will have to replay that, I could not watch any of the morning presentations because it was too darn early for my time zone.
