Just wanted to flag up to anyone seeking help/support/testing for this, that 'losing time' is something often experienced by trauma survivors who have Dissociative disorders such as DID.
So just be careful about who you tell & how you describe it, because finding oneself somewhere with no...
in my experience people dont do this very well. Of course its tricky when they she's the spouses friend & likely not appropriate for you to tell her anything before now, but if she comes, you may need to actually explain to her yourself as soon as she arrives, why you cant come & be with her...
my bolding
yeah... it sounds like this needs discussing @leokitten.
I wouldnt want to be feeling like that with my spouse. I'd be wanting to find out from them what they think the consequences of having the friend to stay will be for me. It never ceases to amaze me how people can suddenly lose...
This is the point.
For some reason people seem to think that all the things that are reasonable & expected when someone has a temporary illness, suddenly disappear when the illness is continuous. Its weird but i find everyone does it. I have friends where if i rang them in distress looking for...
aahh, i see.
yeah anything with scent. Especially artificial scent, so i can often tolerate certain essential oils but a chemical smell affects me badly, something about the quality of it.
I dont consider fabric softener to be 'lightly scented'! I can smell it as soon as they come in the room...
Also - agencies charge more and pay their people less because they have to pay the costs of running a business & are trying to always make a profit, so often carers are on minimum wage while you pay £25-30 hour
I'd say it also depends a lot on how severe you are and whether you have sensory sensitivities to any degree. For example, many/most people use fabric softener on their clothes and wear perfumed products, and most people will simply NOT be able to grasp that when it says in your care plan...
But thats my point... munchausens vomiting & bulimia is intentionally self induced because of a psychiatric issue. whether you view psychiatric issues as biological or otherwise, sticking your fingers down your throat or taking something to make yourself vomit so it looks like you have organic...
says it all that they classify Munchausens in with 'functional' causes of vomiting doesnt it?
ie that they consider 'non organic' to be synonymous with psychiatric and or self induced -
that eating disorders & munchausens are included with eg gastroperesis & IBS, as if 'unknown' causes of...
Also heres a really big important tip
When people show you who they are... believe them.
Whomever you get, if you get a bad feeling or a niggle about them early on.... LISTEN TO IT.
I didnt and was badly hurt by one person who came, & turned out to be pretty nasty. I had a little glimmer...
i have only ever done this, all the other options were completely out of the question for me.
I think the names are interchangeable... always called her my carer, she called herself a support worker, I hate the term PA because its intrinsically associated with a posh secretary to me.
And i...
It might be helpful to know which country you are in maybe?
Also do you want pointers for *finding* a cararer - whcih is why i aksed where you live.
Or things to be careful of/tips how to sort things once you found one?
I take Metformin 850 mg twice a day for Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome, & have done for about 17yrs. I am no longer overweight/obese - it had an almost miraculous effect in that respect - I lost about 3 stone over 6months without changing anything else (i already had ME for about 3yrs when i started...
Hi @rvallee sorry i think there must have been a misunderstanding...
i already have a 'dumb' phone... which i am very happy with & use for texting all the time, and for phone calls while out occasionally. I did say all that in the OP not sure why you're showing me dumb phones? The old keypad...
thanks @rvallee but dont worry, dont waste your energy. I am going to try out a stylus, or the handwriting to text thing Ian spoke of. I'm optimistic that will be the answer as i dont have problems handwriting and even when bad i can seem to do that ok for some reason. Its weird - for example i...
