American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology article on ME

Thanks for flagging it. I had talked to her a few months ago. She seemed like a smart young woman. She came into this reporting really knowing very little about the issue, so she's done a terrific job. by all means, shower the article with positive comments!!

United Kingdom: ME Research Collaborative (MERC) [was CMRC] news

As I wrote, I think the changes as announced are positive, and it will take some time to see how it all plays out and whether those changes are followed by other positive developments. I believe in the integrity of some people who have been involved with CMRC and I have less confidence in the...

David Tuller - Trial By Error: My Exchange With Archives of Disease in Childhood

As you say, I think they're probably stonewalling and trying to figure out a way around it. What is there to investigate? Even if I didn't know about the COPE and BMJ policies when the letter was first sent, they certainly were aware of those policies. So seeing the documentation of what had...

UK CMRC 2018 Conference held September 19 & 20 at Bristol

Yes, I'm going to think about going this year. Last year it really wasn't an option.

United Kingdom: ME Research Collaborative (MERC) [was CMRC] news

Has Bristol mentioned anything about whatever "new role" she purportedly has? Bristol knows she has made false accusations of libel and has lied publicly on video about a cease and desist letter. I would not be surprised if they're not too happy with her right now. She is bringing unwanted...

Trial By Error: A Letter to Archives of Disease in Childhood

I think the issue is mainly the combination of extending the feasibility trial PLUS swapping the outcomes. If everything had been kept exactly the same, then extending the feasibility trial would be much less problematic. My guess is the authors will argue that they didn't change the outcomes...

PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes ordered released

Presumably they have 20 or 40 days to appeal to the First-Tier Tribunal, I would assume. But QMUL would have to want to go through the public ridicule again over spending money on this, and that seems unlikely to me.

Rethinking the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome—A reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of graded exercise and CBT

I haven't understood that point of the Cochrane reviewers--why are they saying the Likert findings are not significant when the post-hoc analysis from the FINE team said they were? I haven't looked closely at the numbers, but where is that contradiction coming from?

Rethinking the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome—A reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of graded exercise and CBT

They made the change because the FINE trial had found null results with the bimodal scoring but significant results in a post-hoc analysis using Likert. They didn't mention that reasoning in PACE, of course. It made no sense not to provide both analyses, since they were already providing the...

Trial By Error: QMUL and FOI; Nature and Cochrane; the Pineapple Fund

The reasoning in the ICO decision about why they don't have to ask Chalder or Sharpe for help seems to be that QMUL shouldn't have to do what other institutions shouldn't have to do. In other words, another public health agency--say, the Garbage Department--shouldn't be expected to have to bring...

Virology blog has completely disappeared. Update : It's back!

Thanks. I've generally felt uncomfortable being on patient forums since I'm not a patient, so inserting myself has felt like I'm intruding. But seems a bit different here. Vincent R. is trying to work out whatever the issue is with the site. Nothing's lost--just some technical glitch. Hopefully...

Virology blog has completely disappeared. Update : It's back!

Hey, David (Tuller) here. I just saw this. I'm checking with Vincent Racaniello. It's a glitch of some kind--nothing intended.
