    United Kingdom: Cornwall ME/CFS services

exactly this. its infuriating the equivalent thses days is mental health.... IAPT can only cope with mild issues, all complex cases (such as severe trauma related problems for example) that wont be amenable to a few sessions of CBT just get told - too complex sorry. So the milder cases get...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

But those figures dont represent the number of infections, they represent the number of positive tests - which of course is dependent on howmany tests are taken. Its why the ONS figures are more reliable, because they are based on the same number of tests across the population. The local...

    Walking stick or rollator?

I use a standard walking stick like elderly people use, in fact it was my grandmother's stick. Its wooden or a branch or bamboo or something, with the top bent over like shepherd's crook for the handle. I couldnt manage without it. For balance and support. I dont always use it at home because i...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

yes, there is this, imo ridiculous, thing about 'outdoors = safe'. As if outdoor air was full of disinfectant or something. Like people who wear gloves who act as though if they touch a contaminated surface with their gloves on, the gloves somehow prevent it from being transmitted to the next...

The higher resting heart rate in ME/CFS patients compared to healthy controls: relation with stroke volume, 2022, van Campen & Visser

Yes. Also i was under the impression that in general, the fitter you are the lower your resting HR? If so then doesnt it stand to reason that unless the cohort was of only mild sufferers, the controls are likely to be fitter than the patients

Do we know if @Hilda Bastian is ok? I hope the reason for the silence isnt that she's not ok or something, i know she had that awful bereavement.

    UK: Physios for ME

Awesome @PhysiosforME you are doing fantastic work, we are all so grateful to you. Your consistently humble recognition of how much we can learn from each other (despite your wealth of knowledge), & your collaborative attitudes, also really stand out to me - an example of how working together...

Would you agree that acceptance leads to being able to achieve more?

Would you agree that acceptance leads to being able to achieve more?

Its funny i saw the title thread question slightly differently. So Yes But only because when i accepted that i was ill and swallowed the bitter pill of reality instead of trying to force my body into a different one, i stopped doing things that, as a person with ME are counter productive. So...

    I wrote a short story about ME/CFS

Well done Sarah! What level of scary is it? I dont generally like horror - i can cope with Dr Who but thats about my limit. If its the concept thats 'horrifying i can cope with that but i cant deal with violence/gore. If you gave it an age rating - like for a movie what would you say. Am...

Blog: The Science Bit by Brian Hughes

from the study Brian is referring to... One imagines these are 'positivively associated' with Medically Explained symptoms too. If you are ill you stop being able to participate, & thus become more isolated. You also, well if you are rational & not a masochist, keep seeking healthcare (insert...

UK Parliament: ME/CFS Announcements: Statement by Health Secretary Sajid Javid, 12 May 2022

Looks ok i'm glad to see Chris Ponting there, Julia Newton's a bit of a loose cannon i'd have thought, not sure where she's at these days. I just so so wish they would include @Jonathan Edwards though, I'm concerned things might go off in an unhelpful direction - eg taking all biomed research...
