    1st ME/CFS Canadian Collaborative Conference

Yesterday I was getting up and moving around a lot... this time I am totally captivated. I still WANT coffee and to stretch my legs but rn I'm consumed by the flow cytometry diagrams!

#OMFScienceWednesday - collection of the posts

Good questions; I sent this paper to Mohsen, although I believe I've sent it to him in the past. :)

(Stanford, California, USA) Recruiting: Brain MRI and Immune Profiling CFS

No, I can't; so far as I know, this isn't associated with the same folks.

Are there probiotics that PWME should avoid?

Dr Ohirra's, though I've stopped. The probiotic situation is now a huge narrative... I'll tell y'all the story once I've figured out what was going on. Was taking for ...3 years? ... without problems. :( :( :(

    Exercise physiology

?!?!?! Ditto, I have a finger oxometer (oxymeter?) and it's usually 98%, unless I'm beginning to have trouble breathing. Then it drops a bit (not very significantly). This is a plummet. I don't understand. Have you gotten this double-checked, I'd be disinclined to believe it could be so low!

Researchers find oddity in other researcher's data...

Oh, I don't know; many people consider string theory next door to alchemy! Yeowch. But probably the case.

    Exercise physiology

Good metaphor! And yes, I think the answer is going to be less simple than we might like to say. Maybe the mitochondria aren't able to process the oxygen as fast as they ought? Okay -- if so, why? No, no... I'm sure more exercise will work, @Barry ... you just have to BELIEVE. :dead...

    Exercise physiology

Sure, it can be included in the references. Yes, it's significant. It's saying the heart and the lungs are working well, but that oxygen uptake by muscles is poor. You can see this in differences between PO2 and VO2. The former shows uptake by lungs and ability of the heart to pump it around...

Open (MA, USA) “Brain Scan Study [PET-MR] of ME/CFS, 2023, VanElzakker

Yeah, that's a real worry. The whole "LOOK IZ IN THE BRAINS IS PSYCHOSOMATIQUE" crowd. As far as they're concerned, the only thing the brain does is give us feelings. Probably a better idea -- he hasn't responded to the initial email I sent him. He is in a different position, now, than...

Periodic Paralysis, myotonia, channelopathy and ME

Ppl are still definitely talking about channelopathies and autoimmunity to neuron-associated receptors like the muscarinic cholinergic, hasn't fallen off the map so far as I'm aware.

What treatment trials for ME/CFS are currently ongoing?

So, Florida's group (Klimas et al) was doing genetics stuff last I checked, and they were gathering from 23andme. Not private info, they've been recruiting for this for awhile. So as far as I know, they are not testing drugs at this time. McGregor and Armstrong were also looking at genes...

Are there probiotics that PWME should avoid?

As I've mentioned in TOF (The Other Forum!) it's not so much the type as when the pill dissolves, in my case. Enteric-coated probiotics seem to be fine. Powders and gel capsules cause pretty serious neuro symptoms for me; the last time I had probiotics in food, my vision went dark in my right...
