The Canadian Chronic Pain Task force report

Ah, I see @rvallee Thanks for the attempt. And you're right of course and I believe the point was even made at the big big reveal speech yesterday patient input should be valued as well informed on some of the issues around any illness. Are there any Canadian MD's among us?

Cochrane Review: 'Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome' 2017, Larun et al. - Recent developments, 2018-19

Yes, if nothing has come out I'm now thinking the future may never come (so to speak). Although it was less optimism on my part and more a passing whim to guess. :bored: Hilariously I just had the thought (if we were all financially better off) that we could start betting pools on this sort of...

"Body Reprogramming: Patient guide for recovery using the Hyland model"

Sounds just like advertising for a new wellness concept *ca-ching*. It doesn't need to mean anything it just needs to get people excited.

Multimorbidity: Implications and directions for health psychology and behavioral medicine, 2019, Boyd et al

An aside from the actual paper abstract: I've always loved the name psychNET. It feels like there should be a 1-800 phone number attached. Perhaps they can prognosticate if I will have further morbidities in the future so I can book an appointment now and avoid the wait. Though they could...

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

I forget who said it (maybe Alain Moreau) but there was specific mention of Stanford and Cornell and one other (can't remember) centre based in another country that this group would collaborate with. IIRC.

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

The moving personal account of living with ME came from Christiane Garcia of @Action CIND I am immensely grateful to all who worked toward this moment. I hope that this momentum continues with more initiatives.

Bias in medicine - Sex and Race John Oliver

I'm not sure what's going on here but I think in general there are different links for different locations and being locked out geographically could simply reflect something to do with their revenue stream from whoever is viewing a particular link.

Current Concepts in Diagnosis and Treatment of Functional Neurological Disorders, Espay et al, 2018

I have a hankering to turn this concept and organisation into a comedy tv show. Only thing is while the patients are variously diagnosed with these ailments week after week the comedy would be that the fearless/peerless medics would be the ones who exhibit all of the symptoms without any...

The association of major life events with chronic fatigue, 2019, Schmaling & Patterson

I have a solution for that. It's called cut funding at the source so we have vastly fewer psych programs and therefore PhD students and profs who need to fill the universe with trivia. I don't know but expect that the only reason there are so many out there now has to do with the university...

Drug given to enhance MRI images under scrutiny over side-effects

Not sure how much of interest this will be: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/gadolinium-concerns-1.5239055 From the article: Gadolinium alone is toxic to humans, but in GBCAs, the element is bonded with other substances, which the body expels within 24 to 36 hours after the injection...

BBC Article - Re 'Mass hysteria in Malaysia' - SW comments

I just wish there was some way (and by extension some able people) who could be proactive on this. For some people who will be given IAPT they will believe what they are told at first and will be willing to explore all manner of personal traumas or failings when that has nothing to do with...

BBC Article - Re 'Mass hysteria in Malaysia' - SW comments

@alex3619 and @Trish Yes, and I expect for those people who have never had to experience the medical system the way we have it probably seems like we're exaggerating or even being quite silly. I see those posts as pretty much revealing the true nature of modern psych with laser precision.

BBC Article - Re 'Mass hysteria in Malaysia' - SW comments

The fact that psychiatry is in complete accord with Shamans and the like with regard to psychological underpinnings of these outbreaks seems perfectly natural to me. Much of psychiatry will be seen as Shamanism and cultish following of charismatic leaders while real scientists continue to work...

ME debate in Danish Parliament March 12 (2019)

The DMA and DHA have a very special view of what constitutes science. There is zero (not hyperbole) scientifically validated evidence that ME is psychological. Zero. Not any. The only 'evidence' on the psychology ledger is for 'treatment' and not only is that evidence unsound (multiple...
