Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I believe these are quotes from Sarah’s statement. Not necessarily in any order. Maeve “died at home… In the company of those she loved“ “Maeve is likely to have died from malnutrition as a result of having severe ME” “It seemed to me that RD & E… It did not take expert specialist advice”...

I’m crashing, there’s a lot of quotes and q&a with Sarah in ME Advocates Ireland’s tweets I’m going to just write them into note form rather than screen shot, as Sarah’s evidence is of course so important, there’s important details in there.

Over to Sarah Boothby. She made a statement, Coroner asked if she wants to alter or add anything and she said she wasn’t aware of the risk mgmt meetings allegations about herself by DCC until she heard it yesterday. (This is normal process IME as they immediately didn't find any concerns they...

Sean’s statement shows the difference between his healthcare for cancer and Maeve’s treatment for ME “had she presented with other symptoms I believe she’d have been treated differently”

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I’ll start with Sean’s statement as there are less tweets. Sean described how he was diagnosed with leukaemia and he thought Maeve would outlive him. “ I always thought she’d get better” “the daydreams are now replaced by memories”

Tomorrow they will clarify the position on Fludocortisone Will look at submissions on article 2, and consider the Coroners potential conclusions I’ve seen tweets that the Coroner has said the Press are present, and of course the snapshots of today seem heartbreaking, so expect some articles...

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I’ll take a look at twitter properly. It seems Sarah and Sean have finished and been released. The proceedings have finished early today. Initial tweets show Sean made a powerful statement with ref to S Wessley

Oh I know you were. But the only PEG references were along the lines of “she wouldn’t have been able to/it involves x-rays and sedation” yes it would have been awful but I think she’d have given it a go. She endured the NG. I don’t know that she wanted to go to a hospice to die, I think she...

Thanks. Although a moot point in a way, nobody gave Maeve the option.

Thank you. So obviously it’s not great but it’s “tolerable” if you were faced with it. Not exactly an operation, and just a local anaesthetic.

Do you know what his role is Dave? He gets a lot of mentions, but hasn’t he been called to give evidence?

They made it sound like she would need sedation, x-rays, an operation etc. Is it on a par with wisdom teeth out under general, or (actually I’ve only had my wisdom teeth out so I have no comparison) less painful

And how invasive is the procedure to have it put in?

Great point. “Medicalising” a patient with a psychological problem, let’s assume that happens. Consequences? Potential side effects like the much-noted “gut will forget how to work” and psychologically more difficult to change their misguided beliefs. Not treating a patient with a medical issue...

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

Thank you very much. The twitterverse is very emotive and piecemeal so I’m glad we’ve had some full reports back! It’s going to be a long wait until the interim decision next week.

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

Thank you nightsong, very illuminating. I guess with Sarah (and Sean)we won’t be hearing so much fact and medical details, it will be more their heartbreaking accounts of dealing with these people whilst trying to keep Maeve alive.

A few new comments from Paul R Keeble “One of my top concerns…is guidance on nutrition around ME is wrong” and some comment on the “hard to follow” social services DCC questioning by Sarah. It seems there is missing info in the records, 2 phone transcripts and an email, which are referred...
