Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) - articles, social media and discussion

Thanks. I needed that laugh. :) Yet another in the long tedious trail of failures that I had forgotten about. There are so many of them.

The Netherlands - €28.5 million ME/CFS research program - ZonMW funding awards announced April 2023

This thing stinks as much as anything I have seen in the ME story. Especially at this stage, after so much has been revealed about what is going wrong in the field and what needs to change. Very disappointing and disturbing, bordering on outright fraud and corruption.

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

Yeah, I want to know this too. They are defining dysfunctional as an arbitrary cut-off point on a scale that doesn't define or measure dysfunction, just levels of self-reported fatigue. That isn't how you measure, define, or explain a profound global change in health status. They really are a...

Review Cochrane review: antidepressants used to treat chronic pain

I am on 10mg daily, for a few years now. I started it for pain and thought it was helping there, and maybe it does. But longer term at least I think it is helping stabilise sleep patterns that brings most benefit. Maybe they are related outcomes.

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

That is exactly what she is doing. Framing/priming to poison the whole thing from the start. She may or may not realise what she is doing, but the people who fed her with this line certainly do. Ellen Goudsmit has been saying for 30 years that patients need to engage via the peer-review...

    Research news from Bhupesh Prusty

Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a multifactorial disorder with many possible triggers. I really wish people would not say this. The simple truth is that we just don't know enough about it all to allow such definitive statements.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) - articles, social media and discussion

The con part is indeed about confidence. But it is about getting the mark to be confident they have not been fooled, that they have made an informed rational decision. That they have not been conned. The reason a con works is that nobody likes to admit they could be or have been conned. That...

Featuring their trademark utter certainty, based on so little hard evidence.

World ME Alliance Factsheet on ME

Very good overall. Roughly half of those with long COVID meet the criteria for an ME diagnosis. I would not use half, good chance that is too high. At least qualify it. Up to half,... My favourite version is: The more we do, the sicker we get.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) - articles, social media and discussion

Or misleading. I am afraid I remain one who is very sceptical of the whole FND construction, however packaged. It is just the same old psychosomatics in slightly different hat, with none of the serious underlying problems actually addressed in any meaningful way. Genuinely very sorry for...

    Who is Simon Wessely?

Thanks to LC Advocacy for an accurate summary of how Wessely operates, of just how duplicitous and dangerous he really is, IMHO. The only legitimate constraints on any tactics and strategy used to stop him, and his like-minded colleagues, and hold them to proper account, are that they must be...
