I think you mean we can all leave the house now.

This would exclude the severe and those unable to regularly post, or post at all, for whom this forum might be a lifeline.

David Tuller - Trial By Error: The Dutch Review; My Trip; Bristol's Silence

I was disappointed when Lynne Truss chose Eats, Shoots and Leaves as the title of her book on spelling and punctuation in 2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eats,_Shoots_%26_Leaves The reason I'm disappointed is that she didn't dare use the original version of the joke, which ended with the...

New German guideline for ME published today

Oh dear, I didn't know that. Oh well, too late now. Is it common knowledge that Edelgard doesn't even have ME/CFS, but a mast cell disorder?

    typo or a new nickname?

    Neurolinguistic programming (NLP)

I don't think that's a fair characterisation. All a bit ad hominem isn't it? When I'm not crying bullshit or being closed-minded and subjective and claiming I'm the opposite, I like to think I can be quite a reasonable chap. I am willing to consider it, and am waiting for someone to provide or...

    BMJ thank their reviewers (2017)

Well that's true, in a way.

    Neurolinguistic programming (NLP)

Should we not first find a paper that clearly shows that anything about it has been objectively demonstrated? Until something more than anecdotal evidence is provided, there's nothing to disprove. Surely those making the claims have the burden of proof? I've never heard anything above...

United Kingdom: ME Research Collaborative (MERC) [was CMRC] news

We would need a safeguard against her always agreeing with herself and replicating her own studies. What if she was ever wrong about something?

    Neurolinguistic programming (NLP)

I'm a bit concerned that a vulnerable person who hasn't thought much so far about having such a voice, might create one and imbue it with certain characteristics (critical or not, loud or soft, fast or slow, coming from X) when it is suggested to them, out of willingness to take part in the...

Daily Mirror: "Heartbroken mum suffering a 'living death' that means she can only see her son a few minutes a day"

Complete with a short (3 minute) video from AfME featuring Julia Newton and George Purdie - which is excellent :jawdrop: EDIT: Also quotes from Charles Shepherd (I hadn't read to the end when I wrote the above).

    Neurolinguistic programming (NLP)

I have seen studies showing that some of the various claims made by NLP don't stand up to scrutiny, for example the one about which way your eyes are pointing being related to how you're thinking.

I'm not very happy with the disembowling thing, and don't see how it's a helpful metaphor.

ME: The rise and fall of a media sensation - Patricia de Wolfe

There doesn't seem to be a date on this article, but the latest reference it makes is from 2009 and it doesn't discuss any events or research since then. Perhaps of historical interest.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalitis: It's Mitochondria, Not Hypochondria - by Sarah Myhill

We would also do everything necessary to cure ourselves. Since when do type A's feel happy being almost completely dependent on others in return for secondary benefits which never materialise? And who other than a type A perfectionist is going to be able to comply with all the details of Sarah...
