What I find odd is that there are two other females I have known for over 30 years. Both of them struggle with all sorts of allergies much worse than mine. They're probably out of action for a day or two every month as an absolute minimum because of this.
Neither of them has ME.
Yep, I have a history of migraines and IBS that predate ME. Neither of which were noticeably made worse by stress though other triggers were identified.
Me too. When the subject of "tiredness" comes up I usual reply with I don't feel tired, I feel like I have the worst hangover imaginable, I feel like I've been poisoned.
I am all too familiar with being very easily burnt as well. Never tan just burn.
Sunburn itself doesn't provoke the flu like symptoms, nausea and so on but, for me, sunstroke most definitely does.
I don't for a moment believe that there's such a thing as a histamine bucket.
One thing I have noticed over the years though is that sometimes I can eat a small one off portion of certain food and get away with it and at others I can't. It seems to depend on what else I've eaten over the...
I have definitely found questions or discussion around what you call or want to call the illness to be assessing how resistant you might be to certain treatment paths.
Fantastic. Saves you the energy of having to run, screaming for the door.
Or as the late Spike Milligan put it.... "and with heads held high and feet higher they were thrown out."
N=1 here.
Pain was one of the first big problems that initially had me booking an appointment with my GP. These days my pain is manageable - so long as I manage my ME well.
Since developing ME I have had a fair bit of dental work done, most of it by my current dentist. He doesn't think I am...
I know things were very different when I was first diagnosed & there's a lot.more information available now but when I was sick for less than 5 years I still hadn't gotten my head around PEM.
This isn't to discount the experience of the more newly ill but I would suggest that it is possible for...
How disappointing but well done for trying. Very hard when you expend valuable effort to have it disregarded.
You never know what seeds might have been sown though. Maybe her piece was edited. Maybe in a few months time or a bit more she'll want to revisit that angle. Or her editor will...
Anecdotes = evidence but not when their patient anecdotes.
Yep, that'll explain why Gerada and Garner were given BBC air time, to air their anecdotes as patients because they're doctors......o_O
Does anyone know if there is actually an end to this rabbit hole or does it go on forever?
I like to fill the space up. Depending on the space n/a is a good answer, other favourites are "ambiguous - do you mean xxxx or yyyyy?" , along with "absolutely none of your business" if there are questions about my sex life.
I also like to make sure they know I have a copy. By bringing it...
You see, I may be wrong but I think in PACE that point is moot.
Presumably all trial participants, including the so called control arm, had access to the treatment promotional material published by the PACE authors telling them that is was safe, effective etc.
As far as I'm aware - & please...
I can. Apparently there are a number of articles I can view for free. I just clicked on the agree box and away I went.
As far as I recall you can paste salient points but not the whole thing.
I tried and lasted a couple of minutes. Normally, I'm fine with subtitles but the hands moving either side of where the subtitles appear just melted my brain & I couldn't filter them out.
Just because an argument was used wrongly against us in terms of GET doesn't mean it's never true. That's what BPSers do, take something that's sometimes true and twist it.
I think if you operate any customer service line or answer the phones for any service you find, no matter how good the...
I think it's natural that we're more likely to hear anecdotes from people who had a rough time of it than those with no real side effects to speak of.simply because people who have had issues are more likely to discuss them.
This doesn't make the issues any less unpleasant I'm sure.
Yep. I've heard this too but I've also heard about plenty of others who have just had an "off" day or two where they were a bit below par or others who just felt a bit tired.
