"According to the NICE website, the organization is working with IAPT to 'assess digitally enabled therapies for anxiety, depression and medically unexplained symptoms which offer the potential to expand these services further.'"
The IAPT Manual defines the three steps of the stepped care...
".. interventions were built upon a behavioural/deconditioning model of CFS."
I agree that "model" is probably a misnomer, and as @Robert 1973 points out, a lot of the slipperiness is around the imprecise use of language. But I would think just "model" or "framework" as a shorthand term in...
Exactly this. It is insufficiently substantiated to be described as theory, and I wouldn't credit it as such.
Would "model" or "framework" prefaced by "hypothetical" be adequately distinct in your view? I think it's important to make it clear that the fear avoidance etc model of ME is itself...

CCGs have been commissioning IAPT services for some time. National roll-out of IAPT apparently began in 2008. CCGs "replaced" PCTs in 2013. The Secretary of State mandated the NHS for three consecutive years commencing 2014/15 to deliver "timely access to services" to a minimum of "15% of adults...
From the IAPT Manual (bolding is mine):
"11.5 Employment support
"There are poorer employment outcomes for people with coexisting mental and physical health problems. There is a high risk of unemployment, absenteeism and poorer performance29. It has been established that the longer people are...
"‘Around half are likely to be completely cured’ was the proud boast of Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Health, on 10 October 2007 at the inception of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). It is tempting both in research and public policy to redefine the original hypothesis...
SW refers to Mike Godwin as a "school friend" in his original tweet.

From Lord Freud's speech:
"But no part of the benefit system is more illuminated by Antonovsky’s theory than how we deal with illness.
"He said 'we are coming to understand health not as the absence of disease, but rather as the process by which individuals maintain their sense of coherence'...
It's referring to solving for reverse causality in the studies; ill health resulted from unemployment and not vice versa. I was supporting your observation that the studies are on previously healthy redundants, but I don't know precisely what conclusions are being drawn from these or other...
Pp. 33-34:
"Much of the early research on employment and health relied on cross-sectional findings. As such it was difficult to control for the problem of reverse causality and these results should be ignored. To solve for this, we rely solely on results from research that uses longitudinal data...
I don't know what studies SW may have had in mind when making that assertion, but I recollect encountering the following in the Working Paper:
The DWP Social Cost-Benefit Analysis framework (WP86)

Author: Danial Fujiwara
(See p. 29 - subsection 4.1.1"The impacts of...
@Trish you came over very eloquent and did an excellent job of conveying the debilitating nature of symptoms and their impact on daily living in a very down to earth and relatable way. Thank you very much for doing this. I know it will have impacted you before and after and I really appreciate...
It's worth mentioning that according to the IAPT-LTC Full Implementation Guidance, there is no "low-intensity intervention" for CFS. GET and a "specialised form" of CBT are delivered as "high-intensity interventions".
I'm not sure how much this answers your question, but from the IAPT - LTC Full Implementation Guidance p. 27 (see ss. 5-6 p. 25 onwards):
'5.4 Pathway principles
Pathways should be developed locally, with appropriate resources and training in place to ensure that they can deliver highquality...
I previously posted the following on a separate IAPT thread. Jarman undermines the original IAPT pilots and betrays a willingness for proceeding regardless of evidence.
