Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

try these they're tiny too small for me really link also there is a very specific way to insert an earplug to stop them working themselves outwards... Apologies if you already know this but i'd been using them for yrs before i learned this trick! You squeeze & roll it between your fingers...

Biomedical articles on MEpedia - purposes and pitfalls

And that really concerns me, since this is exactly what we are fighting against with NICE/NHS/BPS fan club. It seems counter productive for PwME to be doing the same, but just with 'evidence' that they/we favour. Not to mention hypocritical.

Post-Exertional Malaise Is Associated with Hypermetabolism, Hypoacetylation and Purine Metabolism Deregulation in ME/CFS Cases, 2019, McGregor et al

No comments on this study @Jonathan Edwards? I'd be interested in your thoughts as well as other people's, particularly as it's rather beyond me & i don't want to waste my energy learning about 'Hypoacetylation and Purine Metabolism' if it looks like it could be a blind alley.

    Physios for ME

That sounds great @PhysiosforME I would love to be able to just give it a try, but once some physio labels you as unwilling to do the necessary work or worse, it can be really hard to shake that label & being reliant on benefits & no doctor who really knows me well at all, its a risk i cant...

    Physios for ME

@PhysiosforME absolutely brilliant that you're doing this & a very warm welcome to S4ME. I hope in time you might be able to put together some info for other interested physios to look at? - not necessarily treatment guidelines or anything if you didnt feel comfortable with that, but just...

Tinnitus Poll : Making a distinction of subtypes

I have had the intermittent tinnitus lasting for seconds, since prior to developing ME. The continuous type didnt start until the day i tried sertraline - when it came on a few hrs after taking the first tablet. That may be pure coincidence of course. yrs after stopping them it's still there...

UK: Social prescribing on the NHS (and possible implications for ME/CFS services)

Sorry to be thick, but what is 'Social Prescribing'? I scanned the article in the OP but I'm very foggy, i couldn't grasp most of it & it didnt appear to explain what it actually is anywhere. uh, i'm too ill for this, will come back another time when my brain functioning better

L.P. reported mentioned in parliament in May?

Ah ok thanks for that Chris. I wish i could let Jo know that what was said in parliament was actually .... (my bolding - highlighting the doubt expressed) if only for her own sake when in discussion with her friend. Anyone who feels up to it & wants to, pls do let her know, or i guess even...

L.P. reported mentioned in parliament in May?

Just wanting to query the facts in this post from MEA fb 'visitor's posts - i wasnt aware of LP being mentioned in parliament since the January debate... does anyone know anything about the veracity of this? I'd like to support Jo & point out that regardless of whether it was "reported in...

Has anyone used Rosemary or Basil essential oil to clear the head?

@hellytheelephant I find Neals yard basil & geranium the nicest brands i not had their rosemary - i used to use 'essentially oils' brand & their rosemary was divine, but they went bust so no longer available. I not too keen on amphora aromatics' rosemary, but tisserand is ok. I like bergamot too :)

Has anyone used Rosemary or Basil essential oil to clear the head?

Yes! I use rosemary, basil & Geranium often. Love em. Geranium & basil make a lovely combination imo. If i've got to concentrate on anything or be at my best cognitively I dilute with almond oil & massage in all over myself (well arms legs mainly) And use in burner too sometimes. If i cant get...

    GET/GAT being misrepresented as 'pacing'?

Yes i hear what you are saying @Barry, thats pretty much my approach to pacing too although i swing between mod end of severe & sever. So i approach pacing as a thing to do which helps me manage things & hopefully prevent overall deterioration including prioritising energy spend on those things...

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

thank you so much for sharing all that, i am learning a lot yes. I mean i understand that one wants more formalised evidence, for all kinds of reasons, not least because because the pure survey-type of evidence tends to get dismissed as 'the patients dont know what they are on about or whats...

    GET/GAT being misrepresented as 'pacing'?

There is a post today on MEA facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pg/meassociation/posts/?ref=page_internal one of the personal quotes accompanied by pics, that they've been running recently - for awareness week i think? There is a photo of the lady on her stair lift with the accompanying text...

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

Ah ok. The proper use of terms is so important & as a layman i find that a bit confusing sometimes. So we want something concrete to base advice on that is driven by formal observational evidence rather than ideas about cause. Its confusing because i'm just learning that the only reliable...
