ME/CFS services in the United Kingdom

The Leeds and West Yorkshire service is based out of the Newsam Centre at Seacroft hospital in Leeds, which is a psychology/psychiatry centre. When I went there years ago it was chiefly counselling on offer, before aggressive CBT took hold, thankfully. It is also helpfully situated right at...

Petition: Review treatment of people with ME in Scotland

Thank you to everyone involved in the submissions, the personal accounts are harrowing but necessary reading for the committee. The ME Action response dealt with all the issues that made me angry in the NHS submissions.

The Guardian's Science Weekly podcast - 2 November 2018 - What role should the public play in science?

From twitter it seems he really doesn't like the work of @dave30th which is a sign that it is succeeding

The Guardian's Science Weekly podcast - 2 November 2018 - What role should the public play in science?

Thank you for this massive effort, it's really helpful. I was so angry when I listened to it I didn't absorb it all but your transcripts are brilliant.

Backbench Business Committee for next Parliament debate

I wasn't sure whether the lack of answer on timing was so the committee didn't think they have until 2020 to give us a debate, they seemed to be asking how much time do you have before NICE finish. Maybe I got the wrong impression.

Backbench Business Committee for next Parliament debate

I thought it went well. The Committee did not question the need for the debate which they seem to do with a lot of applications. The fact that Carol brought up the NICE guideline committee was great. Now it seems we just wait to be allocated the slot, fingers crossed it's soon.

USA: National Institutes of Health (NIH) intramural ME/CFS study

Ditto, I am eligible and if somehow a UK centre was available I would be more than willing to risk the crash to take part but there's no way I'd make it to the US.

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

One of her sister Fiona's old blogs says that their sister has CFS and quite honestly I don't know what to do with that information... http://www.sciencemediacentre.org/new-year-round-up-me-susan-greenfield-and-the-future-of-science-journalism/

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

Might be better that you don't have to have it in your mind. I've been wading through the sewage of researching it since yesterday and it doesn't feel nice. It appears to be the most recent incarnation of a libertarian Marxist? group who want the right to say whatever offensive things they like...

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist but... This may all be well known to you, I'm new to all these names but a bit of googling this tweeter (see picture) brought up this http://www.lobbywatch.org/lm_watch.html Read the list of names. This feels a bit like SPECTRE! His twitter...

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

Well I've managed to write my email to Reuters, whether it'll do any good is another matter

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

Also this seems like it might be another 'shooting themselves in the foot' situation. The article was obviously seeded by the authors of the review or their 'group' given that emails sent to them were seen. And the journalist must have been pointed in the direction of Colin Blakemore, (or she...

Cochrane ME/CFS GET review temporarily withdrawn

Has anyone else read the Reuters Trust principles at the bottom of the article? For instance: "That the integrity, independence, and freedom from bias of Thomson Reuters shall at all times be fully preserved" There is an email address at the bottom if you have comments, I am going to do my...

Audio distraction: podcasts, audio books, radio on demand

Ooh, only just found this thread, podcasts and audio books are what has kept me sane! I've had a traumatic few days because I got a new phone and had to transfer everything after discovering the brilliant podcast app on my old phone wasn't available anymore. I have 2 types of podcast...
