Effectiveness of psychosomatic therapy for patients with persistent somatic symptoms: Results from the CORPUS... 2023 Wortman et al

I'm trying to write a post about this paper but am very confused by Table 3. The right side of it (under "Difference") seems to show the difference between all the moderates and all the severes, whether or not they got the intervention. The left side splits them up into the intervention and...

ME conference in Sweden 11-12th Oct 2023, The Hidden Disease

I agree this point is off and kind of useless. The definitions used for ME and ME/CFS are generally agnostic about triggers, so there's nothing to say they couldn't be caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Exploring the complexities of illness identity and symptom management in seeking a diagnostic label of (POTS) 2023 Iris Knoop, Moss-Morris et al

Gee, better recognition of POTS? Hasn't this crew already dismissed POTS as psychogenic related to the irrational fear of being upright? Or do Knoop and Moss-Morris disagree with the NYU neurologists who made that claim in a very stupid paper for which I organized a published response...

Review The Impact of Depression, Anxiety and Personality Disorders on the Outcome of Patients with Functional Limb Weakness... 2023 Calma, Perez, Stone et al

Thanks! Bur I have to say these people make it too easy to criticize. You don't have to look very far to find problems!

Review The Impact of Depression, Anxiety and Personality Disorders on the Outcome of Patients with Functional Limb Weakness... 2023 Calma, Perez, Stone et al

And David Perez, the US version of Jon Stone/Alan Carson. And since this review produced bupkus, they need "large-scale, prospective studies" to try to find the evidence that this study did not produce. And interestingly, in this paper at least they did not trot out the false claim that a...

Opinion Post-COVID and ME/CFS – DoWe Need New Disease Theories? 2023 Schauenburg

Are you suggesting re-screening Friends as a possible therapeutic intervention for long Covid and ME/CFS??

Opinion Pragmatism in the fray: Constructing futures for ‘medically unexplained symptoms’, 2024, Greco

She cites Kate Kelland's piece of trash "journalism" about so-called "harassment" of Professor Sharpe as evidence of something or other. She also fails to grapple with the abysmal quality of the PACE trial and all the other research in this domain. Perhaps all that doesn't matter in her...

Opinion Pragmatism in the fray: Constructing futures for ‘medically unexplained symptoms’, 2024, Greco

Ha, good point! but I was referring to their branch of pseudo-whatever (science? philosophy?) relating to the "MUS" construct.

Opinion Pragmatism in the fray: Constructing futures for ‘medically unexplained symptoms’, 2024, Greco

In her domain of science, this is what they believe. I have very little doubt she is completely sincere in her beliefs--no matter how wrong, illogical or stupid those beliefs are.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

Don't think they can be shut up. But it would be great if they spout their bullshit but no one is paying attention anymore.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

This would be true in theory. However, we are dealing with JNNP, which has Alan Carson and Jon Stone as leading editorial players. They are not known for being honest brokers.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

Especially if it gets covered by news organizations to the same extent the JNNP screed was.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

They are impervious to humiliation and embarassment, however, given their arrogance and incomprehensible certainty about their own righteousness.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

Exactly. NICE has the right to defend itself however it sees fit, given the attack.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

Will it actually be peer-reviewed? It seems like the party being attacked should have some freedom in responding without having to respond to lots of snarky, nitpicky anonymous comments from who knows who?

Efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy targeting severe fatigue following COVID-19: results of a randomized controlled trial 2023, Kuut, Knoop et al

Her statement is double-talk—like Captain Renaud in Casablanca being shocked, shocked to find gambling going on. She’s playing innocent—she participated fully in the research but now says she disagrees with the entire premise of the study?? Come on!! The PACE study included a similar meaningless...
