"The Six Habits of Highly Respectful Physicians" by Michael W. Kahn New York Times, DEC. 1, 2008 Not "News", yet still deserves attention IMO.The author is one of the few psychiatrists who signed Vincent Racaniello's / David Tuller's Open letter to the Lancet*...

Objective assessment of diverse types of MS related fatigue and fatiguability

I did some homework and added the URLs to the articles as well as some abstracts. I have to admit that I haven't read one of these papers. Why I think they could be relevant for ME, I tried to outline here...

Member comments wanted: Third section (What the guideline will cover) of the NICE ME/CFS guidelines draft scope

Does anyone know of another comparable NICE guideline in which studies without objective measures were excluded? Furthermore, If anyone could explain the differences/ comparabilities between "level of quality", "validity score"/ "importance" and "evidence", this would be highly appreciated...

The paragraph about the related guidelines also caught my eye. Managed to check only the one for IBS yet, which stresses @Ravn 's concern: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg61/chapter/1-Recommendations#dietary-and-lifestyle-advice

Member comments wanted: First section (Why the guideline is needed) of the NICE ME/CFS guidelines draft scope

Is this the same draft which had been posted in the already exsiting thread? https://www.s4me.info/threads/the-draft-scope-for-the-nice-guideline-on-me-cfs-is-now-out-for-consultation-june-2018.4697/ If yes, wouldn't it make sense to move the comments from the former thread to here? [insert...

Government and Insurance companies - establishing the BPS model

Couldn't find an answer in this thread. In case you asked about the piece in the opening post: Rutherford, Jonathan (Summer 2007). "New labour, the market state, and the end of welfare". Soundings, issue: Politics and markets. Lawrence & Wishart. 36: 40–55. [says Wikipedia]

ME/CFS and the biopsychosocial model: a review of patient harm and distress in the medical encounter - Geraghty et al. 2018

Does anybody have access to the paper? [Edit 2018/07/06: full text now available: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/09638288.2018.1481149?scroll=top&needAccess=true] I find the abstract very promising. I am a bit worried about this, though: Yes, I too reject the BPS model, but...

Another adjustable rhetoric of the BPS narrative of ME/CFS "Before I / PACE entered the stage, there was nothing". "I" says Sir Wessely, when presenting himself as the good guy - meaning the late 80s when he began his "CFS"-carreer. "PACE" says Prof. Sharpe - ignoring that they both had entered...

Perhaps it is worth taking into account that there also were pwme who did the 2-day-CPET testing. As others pointed out, most probably the mildly or newly affected pwme are more likely to have participated in PACE trials. Additionally, they also more likely have participated in the 2day-CPET...

I am too slow for this ultralong and exciting thread, sorry. (Could be of interest for communication sociology, though - a forum thread that reports live from a debate taking place on twitter, at the same time commenting on all possible aspects of the debate) Thus, apologies in advance in case...

Thank you, @Carolyn Wilshire. It's more precise to say:" anybody who is denying an actually existing, pathological fear of exercise" - At least I think that this is what the BPS approach implies. (Have edited my post accordingly) What do you think?
