Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

I must admit when I read about Merryn Crofts I was expecting Vogt to crawl out from under his stone, given his previous. Excellent and restrained response from Homeslice.

My favourite is a twack of ducks, closely followed by a sord of ducks. https://www.collectivenounslist.com/ducks

At the university hospital in Berlin they gave me a 4-page sheet of advice on supplements, symptom management etc that "some people have found helpful", with references to the original research. The Dr also wanted to talk to me about activity management and pacing, but I knew it all already. He...

Janet Dafoe - The Whitney Plea

For me it doesn't matter whether it's Christian or some other kind of spiritual or just begging - it's not a gesture I would ever use in any context (unless momentarily when clapping my hands to express appreciation of a particularly good performance) and I don't want it used on my behalf. Agreed.

    News from Scandinavia

I made the mistake of dividing 5,233,000 by 300,000. The result was 1/17, which I mistakenly took to be 17%. As I have recently espoused on percentages and fractions on another thread, I am thoroughly mortified at having made such an elementary mistake.

Until now the horse has been too easily distracted by the loud quacking of the ducks who seem to have taken over the village pond. Ideally the ducks should be removed as in such numbers they are a pest and a nuisance. Failing that, we have to educate the horse to accept the fact that although...

Oh bugger how embarrassing my maths is crap. Don't tell anybody. Especially not anyone involved in the 2/3 - 66.6% debacle. Especially not @Alvin.

Wow, that's 17% of the population! And if some of them talk to others who didn't see it ... Maybe someone should suggest to the managers of Norway's sovereign wealth fund (currently worth $1 trillion for those lucky oil-rich Norweigians) that investment in ME research is going to be the next...

If they show that CBT and GET can cause recovery on an episode-by-episode basis, that means sufferers have to keep going back every time they have an episode. An army of dependent sufferers for ever - how many jobs for the boys and what kind of an empire would that create?

He's breaking the world speed record for going from discovering Twitter to mastering the art of trolling.

The answer is "yes and so are all the experts who signed the letter to the Lancet, authors who submitted to JHP, authors and readers of the recent reanalysis etc etc ...", but yes, what's the point. He's basically saying "well I'm not going to talk about it if you don't promise to be nice to...

Seems odd that none of his BPS colleagues have tapped him on the shoulder and told him to stop it. I reckon they're all hiding under a rock somewhere but haven't told him.

Predatory behavior runs rampant in Facebook’s addiction support groups

John Oliver did rehab clinics this week. Completely unregulated and thoroughly dodgy.

Well on the one hand I'd tell him where to shove it because he doesn't get to limit the number of questions, attach conditions (including a promise to regard his answer as honest no matter what it is), tell lies about questions already having been answered, dismiss questions by labelling them...

    The ME Show

Me too. I had to get the all clear from a psychologist / neurologist / psychiatrist before I could go to the university hospital in Berlin to get my ME diagnosis. My GP is also a specialist in psychosomatic disorders (I only found out when it was too late!) and has given me the all clear in that...

UN Meeting on Human Rights in Mental Health: A Response

I really wish they'd just say "people with mental health issues" instead of sneaking the phrase "psychosocial disabilities" in there under false pretences. Once that phrase becomes legitimised in this way it'll be redefined to mean whatever the BPS crew want it to mean.
