Crowdfunding: Trial By Error [David Tuller]: Reporting on ME, ME/CFS, long Covid, and "Medically Unexplained Symptoms", Oct 2022

I received a card today too - didn't notice who from but it was probably the same. Such a waste of resources.

Phantoms in the Brain - BBC radio programme on 'Functional Neurological Disorder'

This was broadcast on Tuesday - sorry it's taken so long to notify. I haven't listened to it. "In this episode, we meet Kirsty, a young, fit and healthy mum, who is suddenly paralysed and incontinent. Multiple tests are unable to find any obvious cause. She is eventually diagnosed with...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

I wasn't sure what LTSE was, but a search on this site says that it's Long term symptom exacerbation.

Well, most of the symptoms are disabling, aren't they? It just seems a strange thing to cite.

From academic success to cognitive disability

I gained a Bachelor's degree and a First Class Masters degree in the early days of ME. Now I am worse affected both physically and mentally - no way could I do it now. I used to play Countdown every day, and used to collect firewood and look after and sell plants. Again, this was in the early...

Which scientists and research groups would you want to bring to the ME/CFS research field

This is the wrong way to go. Animal models do not work.

At last! I've received an email from DeCode ME saying: "Dear Participant, We've received your saliva sample and are checking it to make sure we can extract your DNA from it. Thank you for sending it. We will let you know once your DNA has been successfully extracted, or if we need you to...

How soon would you expect Decode ME to reply to an email? I sent mine enquiring about the lack of response to my sending my sample, on the 14th.

I haven't received acknowledgement despite sending my sample over a month ago, so I've emailed them: "Dear Decode ME, I sent my sputum sample to you on 13th September, but haven't received acknowledgement from you. Could you tell me whether you have received it? Thank you." Having just...

    Options for genetic testing

It's a lot more than concern. I gained a Masters degree in science, and focused particularly on the reliability, or rather lack of it, of animal studies. An awful lot of science papers are rubbish. Yeast isn't an animal, as I expect you know.

    Options for genetic testing

I'm pretty sure that all transgenic animal models will do is cause animal suffering. They will not confirm or identify human effects.

BBC Health: 'My illness is so rare it doesn't have a name' - new Welsh clinic for nameless conditions

This article mentions the fact that there is too much specialism so that people are seen by numerous 'specialists'. For example: "As an 11-year-old being told the tests aren't showing anything and your parents are hearing that, there's no thoughts the doctors are wrong because they've done all...
