Untargeted analysis in post-COVID-19 patients reveals dysregulated lipid pathways two years after recovery 2023 López-Hernández et al

Haven't read the study, but lipids can be changed by lipids in the diet. Things like increasing intake of pre-made foods after becoming ill could contribute to differences between patients and controls as sources of fat in these foods could be different than what is used when cooking onesself...

Open Victoria, Australia: Can dietary supplementation with krill-oil improve ME/CFS symptoms?

12 weeks sounds like a short timeframe. I'm assuming potential participants have normal (that is to say, low) intake of omega-3 fatty acids, so the first 4-8 weeks would be an increasing level of omega-3's in tissue and then only a month at saturation. Depending on dosage of course, which I am...

Lightning Process study in Norway - Given Ethics Approval February 2022

A great opinion piece by associate professor in Naturfag (biology) at NTNU and previous science journalist at NRK (our national broadcaster) on the study: Media sviktar samfunnsrolle i studie om alternativ behandling The media fails to play a role in society in a study on alternative treatment...

GDF15 linked to maternal risk of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy 2023 Fejzo et al (hyperemesis gravidarum - morning sickness in pregnancy)

Yes. In Norway though pregnancy removes the requirement of a nutrition problem lasting "a substantial time" before one can get oral nutrient supplementation on prescription. So at least those guidelines are possible to point to here. It makes me so mad the whole thing. And thinking about the...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

"17 out of 100 danes experience sequelae lasting up to 12 months* after covid infection" *Not sure if the survey ended after 12 months and this is just bad reporting.

Interesting how they keep bringing up social support but then focus on working on the patients attitude. Another part of the article (not Reme's research) This third factor is obviously influenced by the two others (and prognosis, and safe economy, and if one have lost someone close to cancer ++).

    News from Scandinavia

A short chapter on LP, uses time to explain "the two sides" biomedical and biopsychosocial, gives twice or more space to BPS (which of course combines what the biomedical model says with "a broader view" and is thus better though they don't write it out). Just wow, way to go on not amplifying...

Breathlessness and air hunger in ME/CFS

Update on my air hunger: Not a symptom I've had a lot of in the last few months. It's more or less gone (this has happened previously, f.ex. I had nocturia for a year and then it was just gone. Still have polyuria in PEM tho)

A general thread on the PACE trial!

It's badly phrased, in both ana and aerobic respiration glucose is turned into pyruvate. Without oxygen the pyruvate ends up as lactate, with oxygen it can enter the Kreb's cycle.

As long as the researchers refuse to take part in such a dicussion, patients are getting nowhere. That's why I really enjoyed this part from Høgberg in the discussion yesterday, in reply to Reme saying everything is publicly available: "I can’t say I feel you are replying to the matter at hand...
