Coyne: Stop using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Checklist to make claims about trauma causing physical and mental health problems

IMO it’s a combo of genetics and the environment. I don’t subscribe to the “childhood/teen abuse” psychological theory. In their skewed line of logic, then their would be a different impact, for a risk factor of getting a chronic disease if the victim was 18 vs 20.... and if the abuser was 5...

Canadian medical & nursing students' survey responses following Unrest screening

Great feedback! My favorites: Q: “What are the most important questions that you have about ME after watching this film?” A1: “the different treatments patients have tried and failed / had improvements with” A2: “How do most patients w/ME live? At home? with family? Long term care?”

Coyne: Stop using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Checklist to make claims about trauma causing physical and mental health problems

Here in the US we still have States that don’t require a minimum age for marriage. A friend of mine got married at 16, but had to travel out of state where it was legal. Her husband was more than 6 years her senior. So in her case, she was not sexually traumatized. They remained married for 34...

Stanford Genome Technology Center annual conference 13 Nov (Ron Davis)

Makes perfect sense. I get that it’s an inside scientist joke; hopefully I have not lost my sense of humour. I was more in general making a suggestion (which I poorly communicated). Perhaps we could sometimes use a “translator”, to communicate things in simpler terms for PwME with brain fog, or...

Go Slow - a CFS-like disease of dogs

Makes sense :nerd: IMO understanding Anthropology is vitally important. Humans didn’t just show up one day on earth. We evolved and adapted; it’s estimated that the earliest form of life was 4100 Million (4.1 billion) years ago. It’s estimated that eukaryote formed 2100 Million (2.1 billion)...

Thanks for sharing. Translated into layman’s terms, that simply means TMI (too much information). I much prefer brainiacs use words and phrases we all can understand. “Think of your audience”, when speaking (was the old way of thinking). Recommending this be updated to “think of your larger...

Coyne: Stop using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Checklist to make claims about trauma causing physical and mental health problems

Some people thrive under stress, some don’t do so well. I don’t agree that prolonged stress will suppress everyones immune system. I don’t agree we are all hard wired for fight or flight. And looking thru epigenetic glasses alone is just one way to interpret health/illness.

Coyne: Stop using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Checklist to make claims about trauma causing physical and mental health problems

Is this a free education that is funded by taxpayers? There are so many problems in this world that need attention. Seems like a waste of an education that could be better spent by getting a degree in something that actually helps people (instead of using it to harm people). So sad. As you...

Exercise-induced changes in cerebrospinal fluid miRNAs in Gulf War Illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and sedentary control subjects, 2017, Baraniuk

“A chronic and multisymptomatic disorder affecting returning military veterans and civilian workers of the 1990–91 Gulf war.” “The United States Congress mandated the National Academies of Science Institute of Medicine to provide nine reports on Gulf War Syndrome since 1998.[17] Aside from the...

FDA approves treatment for disease affecting fewer than 150 worldwide

Wow, I am guessing their advocacy group and scientific advisory board must be stellar in order to gain funding and get Pharma onboard.

Coyne: Stop using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Checklist to make claims about trauma causing physical and mental health problems

How can anyone believe such utter nonsense? Reading this ACE stuff sends chills up/down my spine; seems like some twisted form of propaganda. Just so glad Coyne is on it!!!

What is the course of your ME/CFS?

@Woolie I find your story fascinating. Were you able to narrow down any common denominators that might account for the switching from relapse to remission, and vice versa?
