News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

I suspect it's going to be more like 1% with long-term longcovid, but it's still a large number!

Independent advisory group for the full update of the Cochrane review on exercise therapy and ME/CFS (2020), led by Hilda Bastian

That editorial note would preclude it from being cited on the Wikipedia page, however!

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

I wonder whether they have even looked at the data. It isn't true and "what's most important" is preventing transmission in the first place!

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

Yes, there were three double blinded RCT published in The Lancet, JAMA etc with positive results. The lack of a generalised recommendation was due to risk of side effects.

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

Starting 3-4-5 months after is not uncommon in a relapse-remitting pattern. There are some longcovid sufferers on Twitter that seem to be suffering from such relapse-remitting patterns too.

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

This is not true, the data specifically reports 19 severe/critical cases in the vaccine group. Two cases in the vaccine group were hospitalised. The sample size is not large enough for claims of preventing mortality in high-risk groups and we know from real-world UK data that there is still a...

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

No doubt, but I still wonder if any of the effect in severe patients for example, is due to well, antifungal activity.

Persistent SARS-2 infections contribute to long COVID-19, Jacobs, 2021

"Hypothesis". From the title, I expected this to be actual evidence. Most of the cited studies (suggesting persistence) implied that 20-30 days of shedding was 'persistent', with one that found positive results up to 63 days after the initial onset. Note that all of these studies...

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

Is anyone else interested in the anti-fungal activity of aripiprazole?

The theory of effort minimization in physical activity (TEMPA), Cheval, B/ Boisgontier, M (2021)

Yes, this is so true - it seems to be time pressures/environmental factors, rather than a sudden onset of a strange neuropsychological disorder causing exercise aversion across the entire population!

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

Yes, and besides, it is not validation that patients want, but treatment.

Insights from Invasive Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing of Patients with ME/CFS, 2021, Joseph et al

It definitely isn't the same thing. They only mention PEM with regards to the case definition.

Insights from Invasive Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing of Patients with ME/CFS, 2021, Joseph et al

Those would be good questions for the authors! In the manuscript they claim overlap between the conditions: But SFN was only found in 1/3 of patients (which is why they claim there may be more than one 'flow' profile): The suggestion of perivascular myocyte dysfunction is interesting, the...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

The answer is no clear association. Antibodies aren't being produced 2 days after the inoculation. In the first few days after the first dose primarily the innate immune response contributing to the symptoms. In principle, if the innate response is too strong and effectively clears out the...

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

I doubt they are going to listen. But I'd suggest a creative look at vascular and endothelial function, particularly peripheral muscular (and brain) capillaries. And I don't mean a superficial look that claims everything is fine because they haven't found obvious (severe damage)* or nothing is...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

The efficacy refers to efficacy against symptomatic infection. In a large scale vaccine trial, it is impossible to really say who has really been exposed to the virus or not, so efficacy is calculated as: Efficacy = (incidence of symptomatic infection in unvaccinated people - incidence of...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I just want to point out that the video is not publically listed and they (MDBriefCase) claim that it is only for medical professionals. I have read the transcript and it seems none of those speaking were experts in the immunology of vaccines and they did not discuss the underlying reasons (eg...

Critical of past research: cortisol studies

My grandmother took corticosteroids for decades and had severe kyphosis due to osteoporosis and it effectively shortened her lifespan. Note: Hyperkyphosis predicts mortality independent of vertebral osteoporosis in older women https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2711520/
