Home-based family focused rehabilitation for adolescents with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2018, Burgess et al (inc Chalder)

Isn't this a quite normal response to people causing you psychological/physical harm? It's the basis for false confessions for instance, where people admit to crimes even when it is later proved by irrefutable evidence they didn't commit them.

Illness beliefs of adolescents with CFS and their parents: the perceived causes of illness and beliefs about recovery, 2018,Loades et al (inc Chalder)

Yes, the famous examples of people with HIV is surely proof of this claim that it precludes guilt, blame or social stigma. FFS.

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

A woman wrote that. In a national newspaper. After thinking carefully about what she would like to say. A woman who we should expect to have a basic awareness of the history of her field. A person in charge of deciding important things about research. Who should have a general understanding of...

    Netflix "Afflicted" - ME included

Also, while I'm ranting away, try reading this twitter thread about a similar situation, and note the damage that has been done, and people's reactions.

But I'm asking why this is being brought up in the context of an organised response to the documentary. How is it relevant to the points I made? There are public responses saying that Jamison or Jake should be punched if they call themselves disabled. A poll was set up asking if Jamison was...

David Tuller: Trial By Error: FITNET-NHS Recruitment Ad Promotes ''Recovery''

Does it get worse when you realize there was no work showing in the original trial that the patients actually received all of the therapy?* The patients had to do 'online modules' as part of the CBT. The trial does not show how adherence was monitored. So, you have a lot of kids, with limited...

I'm not saying that it has widespread support, that I personally support it, or whether giving pain relief to people with something called 'Chronic Lyme' with a TENS machine is the best way for people to spend their money. I'll spell out how I view this situation to make myself clearer. 1. A...

Yes, I watched the first one in which a TENS machine was discussed. That's why I asked the question. So I ask again, what's wrong with using a TENS machine? I genuinely don't understand the objection.

"Therefore it is possible that the authors of this study enjoy kicking cute puppies in the face while shouting racial epithets as by-passers." I wonder what they would think of that statement. One day, you will all use and appreciate my only contribution to medicine, Article, "Dear worried...

    Netflix "Afflicted" - ME included

It's the Just World bias/fallacy. People who strongly believe that actions are always rewarded appropriately, that good and bad people get what they deserve because the world is a just place. When presented with good people who do not get what they deserve, Just World believers start to invent...

Unwanted Events and Side Effects in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, 2018, Schermuly-Haupt et al

Isn't there a massive source of potential bias in that what the patient and the therapist view as a side effect is different and whether and how much harm it caused? I'm sure it's easier for the therapist to rationalize side effects as being good for the patient even if the patient did not...

This. I don't care if anyone in the documentary was sympathetic, rational, likeable, or a complete shit. That is all beside the point. They did not consent and do not deserve to be treated as freaks. Some of them will now be met in public by people and mocked to their faces. I am in total...

Dimensional Personality Assessment among a CFS sample with Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), 2018, Calvo et al.

I'm curious as to why there is not a distinction made between doing/not doing something because the person cannot, or because the person doesn't want to.

    Coping with hot weather

Wonko has just reminded me of another useful tool, the indoor thermometer :) I've got a 'HTC-1' (whatever that means). It has a nice large display, tells temperature (C or F), humidity, time and date, and has an alarm too. It's lightweight, has a stand and a keyhole hanging thing, so can be...

    USA - Mayo clinic

He's actually enjoying Mayo. The woman on his left is tired of his enjoying Mayo and associated bullshit. The woman on his right is pretending to enjoy being the token minority that is only there so that the diversity box can be ticked. She knows her appearing is also bullshit by the fact that...
