    Palpitations

I found these sort of diminished after upping my magnesium. I was having two Epsom salt baths a day at one point. However, I kept getting cramps until I increased my potassium too. Now I just drink electrolytes and oral rehydration solution throughout the day which seems to minimise most of it...

UK: Locations that offer CPET/VO2max testing

I've just completed my two-day CPET at Salford. It was daunting on the first day but less so on the second day. We did the 10-minute thing with slowly increasing difficulty, rather than the constant stopping and starting. She said it was exactly the way described in the paper I sent over, so...

Petition to ask government agencies adopt ICC

You're quite right, but I think the problem is that ME is something of an 'orphan' illness. There isn't a specialist to take ownership. I imagine in specialised clinics, the wait is very long, and when you finally get there you're far more likely to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist who prefers to...

Phase III Rituximab Trial - News

Where did you hear that? It sounds unlikely. Trials don't usually 'run out of money', because you ask for however much you need to do the trial upfront.

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

Of course! And I didn't mean to imply that it's you downplaying deaths, or your family. I can understand that there have been problems on social media. I don't think people always intend to cause upset, but often those same people are hurting themselves, which is why their responses can be rash...

NHS demands legal costs from failed homeopathy challenge

'Tap water masquerading as medicine'! I love it!

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

I should also say that I second this! Merryn's story has been instrumental in opening eyes and raising this issue for debate. Talking about it constantly must be very painful, but I think we all appreciate your bravery in coming here and speaking to us, as you have with the press and others.

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

Thanks again, Amy. I appreciate that this is a difficult topic, but I'm not criticising anyone here. It seems we're talking cross-purposes. You mean 'people who died primarily from ME', but the articles state 'people who had ME on their death certificates' or similar. The latter is obviously...

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

I can't paste the table here, annoyingly, but it's 87 deaths listed from 2001-2016. That's 5.4 deaths a year, with the numbers taken from death certificates alone (not coroners' reports). ETA: I got the file to attach in a different format. I hope it's useful.

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

It certainly wasn't a dig, @Amy101. However, I'm sorry to say that a number of deaths have included ME or CFS on the death certificates. See the thread here: https://www.s4me.info/threads/merryn-crofts-death-ruled-to-be-from-me-by-inquest.4202/page-2#post-73691. There were 11 in 2016 alone...

BBC: 'Vindication' for woman who wanted ME on death certificate

Didn't someone post a link to all reported death certificates with ME mentioned? It was higher than two. Was it on here or PR? My suspicion is that these are just the two that made it into the papers, and we might discover many more if we know where to look. (However, we can't know whether ME...

Solve ME/CFS Initiative - Editorial: PEM. It's time to Retire the Term

Jane Colby suggests post-exertional deterioration. An alternative would be 'post-exertional relapse', since 'relapse' is generally understood to be serious.

United Kingdom: The Royal Society of Medicine

Though, as a gay man, he may be swayed by Peter Tatchell's article linking gay conversion therapy and CBT in ME. However, I think he's unlikely to make a fuss at this event either way.

Exactly. It's not straight-cut at all.

Submissions on Draft Scope for the NICE Guideline Review, 2018

Maybe @Jenny TipsforME and @Nathalie Wright can help? I didn't write that section. ETA: I don't know about body work (massage, maybe?) and I have no strong feelings either way re: stimulants.

ME/CFS Fatigue Types Questionnaire (Jason 2009)

From the above study (extra line breaks added): Which I find very interesting. This is really useful for diagnosing ME, because it sifts out those who think they have PEM and those who actually do (or it suggests the PEM of healthy controls is emotional, rather than biological).
