    Is ME A NeuroMuscular Disorder?

Yes. Still, ME doesn't always have to be degenerative, ie,a dystophy. Perhaps it's an acquired myositis? Or even a genetic-based NM disease triggered by a virus/bacteria/parasite? I think we need to look to symptoms, and admit they are calling this in real-time. No one knows much about...

    Is ME A NeuroMuscular Disorder?

PEM and cognitive issues may suggest not, but is it just a function of not knowing enough? https://www.mda.org/disease/list

The Guardian - Lyme disease solution on the way

Canada has geography on its side. That matters. Climate matters. I still wouldn't trust gov't insights. Lots of US tools out there...

Why only females? Re: Lyme - Even larger Why Only Females? Lyme is fairly gender neutral.

Predictors of Response to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (2019) Greenberg et al

Yes. But what do you do in a world characterized by subjective symptoms, more or less, so far? I've seen subjective symptoms marginalized and ridiculed, and it's difficult. The answer may rest in the wording of the questionnaire.

Disulfuram highlighted. Eh. Although I am a big fan of Liegner - he doesn't indulge in hype as far as I am aware. Does the name Vicky Logan resonate with anyone? Liegner was her doctor. He's a mensch. https://www.lymedisease.org/disulfiram-kinderlehrer/

The Guardian - Lyme disease solution on the way

@DokaGirl , look to Lyme incidence in dogs. They are the canaries in the coal mine. If dogs show it, people will, too, eventually. Know how they diagnose dogs in the US? With the C6 - same test they use in the UK for people (last time I checked).

The Guardian - Lyme disease solution on the way

Vector control may be the answer. Very difficult, though. Ticks are notorious hitch-hikers. There is now an infamous study of Lyme into Canada. Know how they mapped it? Through birds' migration routes, and canine infection.

I felt a bit like this was all about a vaccine pitch, but I'm biased. Fallon has one thru the NIH. It was just announced, like a week or two ago. And yeah, no hooch while on Disulfiram. Also, where IDSA parts company often with patients is in the area of subjective symptoms. I wonder what some...

Understood. That's why I said "If". Those numbers could be lower. They could be higher. It's nice to have a sort of benchmark feel, regardless. Keep in mind also that 10-20% uncured figure attributed to Hopkins isn't really from Hopkins, and that number also could be lower or higher, depending...

The Guardian - Lyme disease solution on the way

This article notes between 2,000 and 3,000 new Lyme cases in the UK per year, but suggest NICE thinks it's actually higher. If NICE bases its estimates on the CDC's calculus, then multiply that number tenfold. So between 20,000 and 30,000 UK Lyme cases, year in, year out. Of those - according to...

House orders Pentagon to review if it exposed Americans to weaponised ticks -The Guardian

Just to explain about the "Swiss Agent" for anybody who is interested in what it is, and why it may be important. Willy Burgdorfer discovered the spirochete that is supposed to cause what we call Lyme. He didn't just discover it on a whim. He was asked to examine a specific cache of ticks...

House orders Pentagon to review if it exposed Americans to weaponised ticks -The Guardian

A tip of my hat to Kris Newby, author of Bitten, whose research in part led to this. Also, a big thanks to the efforts of US Representative Chris Smith. I doubt that anything substantive will come of it, but the attention hopefully will prove good in the long run. The...

Open The NIH Intramural Post-Infectious ME/CFS Study: A Patient-Study Participant Perspective (from the e-newsletter of the Solve ME/CFS Initiative)

For some reason it strikes me as odd that patients in for a strict study protocol, struggling to attract participants, would be forced to participate in a hitherto "new" Clinic-wide exercise assessment - particularly patients in which exercise intolerance play a role... I would think that there...

Genome-wide association study identifies eight risk loci and implicates metabo-psychiatric origins for anorexia nervosa

Neuromuscular disease seems like a round hole for a round peg. There are several metabollic myopathies that might be potential candidates. That's where I'd put my money at this juncture. Many are genetic. Some of these kick in at birth, some at adolescence, some adult age. That someone had to...
