CFS part of the Finnish Lääkäripäivät 2018 conference

I'm sure they mean treating doctors but i see it as doctors who hand out candy instead of diagnosing patients :woot: They should be known as CBT physicians, (Chocolate, Butterscotch & Tiramisu)

Gaming addiction classified as disorder by WHO

But it can't be, according to common wisdom and all the marketing depression is biochemical and genetic. So either thats wrong or this is incorrect or they want to have it both ways...

Guardian: "Don’t listen to Gwyneth Paltrow: keep your coffee well away from your rectum"

I think this is a great idea, her fans should try it with some added Dragon chili pepper for added effectiveness

Open letter to TEDxBristol regarding Esther Crawley's presentation on 2 November 2017

In the end any harassment has little to do with us, its between Ester, Bristol and the perpetrator, if there are threats they can call the police and the person responsible will face the law. It need not be said anyone breaking the law should face the consequences of their actions. All that...

How do we partner with Pharma?

We all want progress yesterday, but we can't wish it into existence, we need to make it happen, and how is the big question. If i want to build a rocket and fly to the moon i can't say lets build it out of parts in my toolbox and we can get there next week, i would need to know how much force is...

Open letter to TEDxBristol regarding Esther Crawley's presentation on 2 November 2017

Yeah, thats the point, its common use these days to use cop out or distraction talking points to avoid the real issue or make it less important. Politics maneuvers. As @Valentijn said this whole narrative is meant to discredit us and make her look like the hero. We can either get wrapped up in...

What are the 'missing' research papers based on existing data that we wish scientists would write about ME/CFS?

I like this thread :) I would like to see more studies on the cognitive effects of ME/CFS, sometimes i don't know whats worse, the physical or cognitive problems. Everything from memory problems, inability to concentrate, math ability, cognitive fatigue, stamina and so forth.

Psychologists Claim ‘Selfitis’ – The Obsessive Need To Post Selfies – Is Now A Mental Disorder

Probably, some kind of reclusive disorder where they will scientifically determine that to be normal you must have a social media account (since on average people do), post exactly X number of photos a week (with a standard deviation) and so on. Beyond 2 standard deviations from the arbitrary...

Treating Disease by Nudging the Microbes Inside Us

Very interesting article (but not too cognitively taxing), the idea is excellent, the methods in humans still need to be invented https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/01/nudging-microbes-disease/549683/

Buzzfeed News - A Controversial Therapy For ME Has Led To Claims Of Death Threats, Harassment, And Pseudoscience

Most people choose a position by how intuitive something sounds to them and their introduction to the topic and any past knowledge. Then defend it by whatever means they prefer. Only some look for more information or the facts and make an unbiased judgement call. She has a nice intuitive...

Belief in the law of small numbers

They were not, Dogbert invented a new condition to show how gullible the public is to media driven lies (eerily accurate for being written almost 20 years ago)

Buzzfeed News - A Controversial Therapy For ME Has Led To Claims Of Death Threats, Harassment, And Pseudoscience

She won't say it like that, she will say you were turned against her by lying patients and propaganda hence your no longer a reliable person (or something to that effect) and that her (fake) results vindicate her

School sends home sick asthmatic 5y/o, then bans him from Xmas party for ‘poor attendance’

Policies are often invented from the top down, if it seems like a good idea on paper its adopted. Real life and practicality takes a back seat to "good" ideas.

    New Crawley research? MOrPH-CFS

Lets think of this a different way, how many times do we need to treated like pariahs before we stop falling for lies from someone with malicious intent?

School sends home sick asthmatic 5y/o, then bans him from Xmas party for ‘poor attendance’

Pretty much, many employers don't have much regard for their employees. The bigger the organization the less regard in my experience. I think its a good policy to demonstrate failure though, if kids come to school with contagious conditions then all the kids will get sick more often, the average...

School sends home sick asthmatic 5y/o, then bans him from Xmas party for ‘poor attendance’

I don't know how many days of school there are in a year but 98% is probably higher then the sick days most countries allow employees. Secondly this reminds me of a job i once worked, you had to have 98%+ uptime, which means if you went to the washroom more then once per shift or spent more then...

Belief in the law of small numbers

Many if not most people seem to think statistically significant means correct. This is easily exploitable as you say, do enough trials you can cherry pick the one you like and voila you have "proved" lies. There was a Dilbert episode where he is forced to prove Chronic Cubicle Syndrome exists...
