DecodeME - UK ME/CFS DNA study underway

So I was just speaking to my partner who; is lovely but also goes through life with a much more cynical / “pessimistic” attitude than me, (opposites in ways!), in the sense that by doing that, he doesn’t get disappointed all the time and feel sad - as he says, expect nothing and then you won’t...

DecodeME - UK ME/CFS DNA study underway

I still feel a little shellshocked at the news. And so happy. Every time a doctor starts to say something weird to me, like they did recently, I’m going to say, “oh did you know the MRC has just funded a huge genome study into the genetic causes of ME?” :innocent:

Covid19 - Shielding and self-isolating for vulnerable people - policies and issues

Has anyone had an eye test recently? Spec savers now do home visits but the Outside Clinic dont (edited, they are open now too). I need to have my eyes tested - Worried if I leave it, coronavirus will get worse in winter & then I won’t be able to until next spring/summer which is too late. If...

Covid19 - Shielding and self-isolating for vulnerable people - policies and issues

Hang on, 1 in 1700 means there’s around 38,000 people with the virus right now (taking into account the 66 mil population of U.K.) according to the Guardian article? That’s a lot of people with coronavirus.

Covid19 - Shielding and self-isolating for vulnerable people - policies and issues

Same. “On average, less than one in 1,700 people are estimated to have the virus, down from one in 500 four weeks ago, said the DHSC.” That’s not really that great is it? Pretty sure New Zealand were in full lockdown mode even when they had less than 1 in 1700 infected.

Do you mean an MRI with contrast, or without contrast? (I had an MRI - without contrast - and nothing about low pressure or anything related to pressure was reported).

    UK: Physios for ME

I just read through the website for @PhysiosforME , still got quite a bit to get through but wanted to say how wonderful it is, it’s making me cry (happy tears) to read it! (My excuse is I’m a bit emotional at the moment!). to go on your physios page and to see: “pacing We recommend Symptom...

Barely able to think after psychiatry visit.

I’m so sorry. During my autism assessment I was told that If I was ever admitted to a psych ward for any reason in the future, (as a few autistic people sometimes are, often for no good reason at all), that I should be very careful about taking medications and normal dosages as it can sometimes...

    low pressure in brain

I am not sure if this is the same thing but I have heard of such a thing as “low pressure headaches” which a doctor has mentioned before in relation to ME symptoms/headaches. Whether they meant low blood pressure in the head itself or low blood pressure in general, I don’t know (edit: found out...

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

Oh wow they have semi skimmed milk made from Jersey milk! That looks delicious. On a similar note Abel and Cole are now open to new customers again. Abel and Cole was so helpful during lockdown at the beginning as I didn’t get priority access to other supermarkets for quite some time. So we...

Covid19 - Shielding and self-isolating for vulnerable people - policies and issues

Just checking were either of these shops you mention @Hell..hath..no..fury... or @Wonko , from Sainsburys orders? We’ve had a similar issue with Sainsburys. Sometimes half the shop is missing! However so far Ocado has been really good - telling us at checkout if something is not there, and I...

Well known, famous people reported to have Lyme Disease.

I really wish someone could know conclusively whether they have Lyme disease or not. The problem comes when you hear/learn that the test is not conclusive & produces false negatives & false positives. how do you know if you have it or which doctors (either saying you have it, or you don’t), are...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Feeling really worried today about the shops all opening up in England. Looked outside and the big shops outside in the complex had queues around it & lots of people all standing by their cars and even by mid afternoon the queue was still there. I don’t understand people... it’s all been...

Cerebral Blood Flow Is Reduced in Severe ME/CFS Patients During Mild Orthostatic Stress Testing. van Campen et al. 2020

Aaah very interesting. Thanks for posting this! So it does seem it’s vasoconstriction... caused by, something related to the sympathetic nervous system? I feel quite excited by this research, and the questions people are asking about this...more than I’ve felt in a while, as this is related...
