Ron Davis latest: more evidence of "something in the blood" (Simon M blog)

I have not had much sleep, so this may not be relevant at all. Did healthy controls have IDO mutations ? Graphs in CFS plasma remind me of the bistability " kick in " Did experiment continue longer ( do we know of CFS in healthy plasma ever got to the same impedance level as HC?) ETA what...

CAN LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS BE USED TO IDENTIFY WHETHER ADOLESCENTS WITH A CHRONIC ILLNESS ARE DEPRESSED? - Jones, Loades, Crawley et al Dec 15 2019

There is an obsession with depression and anxiety in children and adolescents. Probably underpinned by the variety of inappropriate scales used HADS CHALDER SF36 These are not nuanced for ME responses. But hey, narrative to reinforce, papers to publish....

“Investigating ME/CFS at the intersection of the nervous and immune systems.” Speaker: Dr. Michael VanElzakker Oct 26 2019

Speaking to my daughter last night/ this morning. She has headaches and facial pain ( seems related to very tight muscles - she feels though as if someone has taken a baseball bat to specific parts of her head) . This also induces nausea , almost like being in shock, and puts her on " alert"...

Article: Brain studies show chronic fatigue syndrome and Gulf War illness are distinct conditions

I wonder if there are some who have moved from one group to another. My daughter did not have OI issues until this year.

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

I have wondered where the physicists are in ME research. Physicists have made a huge difference to cancer research- quantum biology has evolved in response. ME would seem to be a prime candidate for deep molecular work.

Surgeons withdraw support for heart disease advice

Aseem Malhotra the cardiologist has been pretty vocal on this (and statins) for the past few years. A man who knows how to interpret stats https://www.bmj.com/bmj/section-pdf/746405?path=/bmj/347/7926/Observations.full.pdf How do we get him interested in ME?

Ron Davis latest: more evidence of "something in the blood" (Simon M blog)

is it relevant that ME/ CFS cells have a nominally different response in healthy plasma too? ( less impedance) would it be interesting to look at the cells ( ME/CFS in healthy plasma, normal controls in CFS plasma at the crossover point just short of an hour and see what is happening?

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

Exertion is not simply physical. We find emotional exertion is one of the biggest energy rappers, perhaps as it more difficult to gauge and less easy to control / reign in. Mental exertion can as bad as physical and can provoke overstimulatory sensory hell.

Clinical and cost-effectiveness of the Lightning Process ... for paediatric chronic fatigue syndrome, 2018, Crawley et al (Smile Trial)

If you can't do this as an undergraduate because it us so basically wrong, it shows how badly the process has been corrupted.

Is sex worth the pain? Willingness to engage in sexual activity among partnered women with fibromyalgia, 2017, Gullickson et al

So sorry to hear how, awful things have been for you. The article is perhaps not as bad as a recent one on endometriosis- this looked at the impact of painful sex if you were Male. I have a friend who has endometriosis which took years to diagnose, she sent me a link to the paper with some...

Paediatric chronic fatigue syndrome patients’ and parents’ perceptions of recovery - Harland, Crawley et al 2019.

Given that Sonya Chowdery has , I believe, commented that recovery means full recovery it would be good if @Action for M.E. would comment on this. A tweet/ facebook page comment could be effective.

Paediatric chronic fatigue syndrome patients’ and parents’ perceptions of recovery - Harland, Crawley et al 2019.

We seem to be going through a historical revisionist period in UK. Having redefined poverty many times to provide compliant/ improving spin on figures it should not come as any surprise that recovery is seen as similarly flexible. How on earth would so many psychological treatments work if...

Trial By Error: Professor Jonathan Edwards’ View of ME (includes discussion of exercise and long-term harm)

Healthy ? I took that to mean that nothing showed up in tests ( surprise surprise). So Standard medical practise healthy. All had fatigue, sleep issues and other symptoms ( not specified) , which sound familiar. His wife found mitochondrial abnormalities. Charles Shepherd was found to have...

Crossing Chiari and syringomyelia off the list

My daughter has increased facial pain, and headaches. Much of this seems to stem from tight muscles ( very tight) and chiropractor gives relief via trigger point massage. You can do this to yourself potentially for some areas. Sadly muscles are simply getting tighter and relief is becoming...
