Article: 'Is standing up for expertise a fool’s errand?' - Simon Wessely still being portrayed as the 'victim'

Reinforcement of narratives is everywhere, expect peaks prior to conferences and pre NICE key milestones ( is there one coming up?) could this be seen as timely given the Danish ME debacle at the moment, I wonder...

Assessing cellular energy dysfunction in CFS/ME using a commercially available laboratory test, 2019, Morten, Newton et al

Naturopaths and some other alternative practitioners also do this test, it is not just Myhill. I think people are looking for explanations and approaching it from a cellular energy point of view seemed to make sense when you seem to have none.

Assessing cellular energy dysfunction in CFS/ME using a commercially available laboratory test, 2019, Morten, Newton et al

We gave no details re abilities. A wee questionnaire from memory to Myhill - brief medical history, age, the kind of thing you gsve to fill out everywhere. 4 We advised glandular fever likely trigger, " ill since" since timespan and We provided typical day's food diary. We were below 40-60% (...

Assessing cellular energy dysfunction in CFS/ME using a commercially available laboratory test, 2019, Morten, Newton et al

We has mitochondrial test done. It's part of a number of tests within the ATP profiles " package" some of which were useful ( v low glutathione, low normal B3, one SODase low , one low normal). The interesting aspect for us was how well the energy score related to ability. It was spot on. I...

If this is, as multiple reports suggest, a relapsing and remitting condition, then " recovered" genetic info may play an important role.

UK Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) project - draft website goes live, feedback sought on recruitment plan, and updates

Data varies as chip versions have changed over time and so gene content has changed May not have particular Gene's as most are selective ( unless you have a full genome) . OMF do not use 23andme which is probably the widest consumer accessible provider. ( photo posted last year showed gene...

Thanks @Marky . It has been a development in the last 5 years, so kind of weird . I think the double tap theory holds good for both, so Gene's will have a role no doubt.

Functional Neurological Disorders - discussion thread

This. Many of Jon Stone' s patients are happy to have a diagnosis that sounds " real" after being fobbed off and gas lit. They seem completely unaware re the doublespeak aspect. He seemingly has a very empathetic manner, which if you have been treated abysmally by medics previously would...

How do we make sure ME prevelance numbers are as accurate as possible?

alDrifter, post: 229609, member: 605"]According to this paper: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2379748/?page=2, the ME Association said there were 150,000 people in the UK who had ME back in 1993. Now they say 250,000 people have it. Where did the extra 100,000 come from? There's...

    Weekly collapses

My aunt had these, which instigated severe hear palpitations. Twice she went to hospital via ambulance, wore monitors and nothing found. ( a relief not to have underlying heart issues). She had a private consult as NHS did not seem to be able to say her heart was ok and consultant used a...

Development of a conceptual framework to underpin a health-related quality of life outcome measure in paediatric CFS/ME - Crawley et al Jan 2020

This is where charities need to get involved in summarising flaws , usually silence reigns. Given the inadequate definition of PEM this is interesting but of little value. @Russell Fleming @Action for M.E.
