NATURAL: End-To-End Causal Effect Estimation from Unstructured Natural Language Data

I see the benefits. Of course there are potential harms too. Social media records can easily be the subject of campaigns. For example, all the supposed testimony of recovery as a result of the Lightning Process, with testimony of harm from the therapy on social media possibly limited by...

Experience with LDN? low dose naltrexone

Low-dose naltrexone for treatment of pain in patients with fibromyalgia: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study 2024 Bested+ I think this Danish study is a high quality one. It suggests that LDN doesn't help pain, sleep, mood, function and more in people with fibromyalgia.

Trial Report Low-dose naltrexone for treatment of pain in patients with fibromyalgia: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study 2024 Bested+

I like their diligent use of double blinding. In fact, I liked a lot about this study. It gives the impression of being very credible. I think the conclusion has to be that LDN is of no use for fibromyalgia - although perhaps some people will argue that the chosen standard dose doesn't work for...

    Myalgic encephalomyelitis, 1955-1990 - K. Johnstone

That's a really interesting account. Worth clicking through to read the whole thing. I'm interested to know if others who have read the primary sources agree with it all. It notes that the name ME was applied to the initial Royal Free virus, and that the people who had ongoing symptoms were...

Maeve Boothby O'Neill - articles about her life, death and inquest

I assume this is Dr Strain. I know I'm commenting on incomplete information third hand, but we really need our advocates to understand that the most significant problems with the PACE trial and others like it don't include participant selection. It makes it seem that the treatments work for some...

National Autistic Society says media reports on an autism cure study are ‘deeply insulting’

My understanding based purely on something I heard somewhere from a researcher who sounded knowledgeable is that the label of 'autism' actually covers a whole lot of conditions. So, the idea of a single 'cure' almost certainly isn't realistic, or even needed for some. I think it's possible...

National Autistic Society says media reports on an autism cure study are ‘deeply insulting’

Thanks @Hoopoe, I had assumed the 'autism cure' was a lot more than behavioural therapy and a whole food diet. You are right, it certainly does all sound very similar:

Sleep and circadian rhythm alterations in [ME/CFS] and [LC] and its association with cardiovascular risk factors..., Zeron-Rugerio et al, 2024

There's also this paper: Serum of Post-COVID-19 Syndrome Patients with or without ME/CFS Differentially Affects Endothelial Cell Function In Vitro, 2022, Flaskamp et al that deserves a detailed look.

Sleep and circadian rhythm alterations in [ME/CFS] and [LC] and its association with cardiovascular risk factors..., Zeron-Rugerio et al, 2024

It's not open access. The Castro-Marrera in the author list is the same one who has been involved in some less than good papers, although there are other authors. It's a good sized study and the measures are interesting. I think a week of actigraphy is not long enough to minimise the bias...
