Sleep fragmentation (falling asleep then waking up, occuring 12x a night---yes, with FM, this has been my experience. However I use a benzo if that pattern starts---my fragmentation was worse when I was younger--the first 10 yrs post onset of illness.
As a person w/FM (etc cfs, nonspecific...
Actually, it is not difficult to diagnose.

My n=1....Labs done to rule out autoimmune diseases (I had a very high ANA but no s/s of lupus or any other systemic disorder) and voila, the fibromyalgia syndrome as my collection of early symptoms fit under, diagnosis made by rheumatologist...
Here's a relevant FM pain science article for you @Friendswithme.
You see, pain may have a dessert-like topping (the CBT, brain retraining---all candy frosting but irrelevant to causation and ultimately prevention or cure), The real deal is that FM pain has a physical origin, ie the symptoms...
TWIV 1220:
Dr. Daniel Griffin (infectious disease) and Prof Vincent Rancaniello (virology, Columbia Univ) discuss the current covid vaccine controversy here at 1-36 minutes
The FDA officials responsible for the pronouncement wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMsb2506929) that adults with the CDC risk factors of a poorer outcome would qualify for the next covid vaccine.
This CDC list (link in above article)...
This is disturbing news. Pediatric deaths in the US from Covid are overwhelmingly in the unvaccinated. These include half (as I recall from Dr. Daniel Griffin's TWIV episodes) of the peds deaths in previously healthy kids.
This is the dismantling of vaccines in action. Reprehensible. I guess...
"Pleasant" was used to describe me by a consultant female rheumatologist for my disability work up for FM in the report to my family doc.
Maybe I reminded her of someone. Or she actually remembered my face because our paths crossed at the hospital exactly once and she shot me a meaningful...
Participants recruited had a pain intensity of 3/10 or higher.
A three isn't huge. At a three, I could lower my pain level with distraction or a hot bath, no problem.
I wonder if the participants who consented to this trial were those seeking help at a teritiary care site (a major referral...
Having had (my last?) Pfizer covid vaccine on April 30 followed in 3-4 days by some virus with low fever and very fiendish body aches that augmented my FM nerve transmission of pain at least 400%, plus lovely gastroentestinal symptoms a la noro (yuck), I can only say to the above research...
I am clueless about the subject, and so....

Calcium levels, why? What's the hypothesis with the development and maintenance of allodynia, or is it just a shot in the mineral dark room?
And so irrelevant that the higher levels "corresponded" with higher levels of depression and anxiety.
Having increased my activity levels this week due to political and market instability inducing big stress on a family member. I was able to increase my activity as a counter-punch to the unbearable stress I was feeling, a type of distraction I was unable to resist.
I told myself this surge of...
I have had severe FM since 1998. I had been an RN for two decades before that. I quickly became disabled.
I reserve the right to state my opinion about certain chronic pain research. I am well aware of high levels P in the CFS and reduced NGF in FM, as well as the ascending and descending pain...

My congressman reported that the University of California-Davis lost $9million NIH grant money. This stops ongoing medical research there. Just one university among many.
Reverse brain drain anticipated as scientist look to other countries to continue research projects.
Thanks for bringing this up @Kronos. I didn't realize there had more trials with stronger doses.
Here's Tonix's report of the trial. From FM researchers that I've read, they consider a 50-60% mean pain reduction significant.
Until I see a published report in a medical journal, I won't know...
I found this useful Cleveland Clinic rheumatologist's clinical viewpoint from clicking through your link @hackorbee.

Yes, I think the generalizing hypothesis that central sensitization accounts for some god-like supra-architecture involved in the perpetuation of chronic pain---it's a hoisting of a comforting image in that: "here's the explanation now go on about your life and get over the pain and we don't...
